Job Description

Sales Engineer, APAC

iXsystems

• Own the technical sales process across APAC — from initial discovery through proof-of-concept, technical validation, and close. • Lead compelling product demonstrations, technical deep-dives, and proof-of-concept engagements that showcase TrueNAS capabilities and differentiation. • Consult with prospective and existing customers to understand their infrastructure challenges, storage requirements, and business objectives — then architect solutions that fit. • Partner closely with Account Executives and the Director of Sales to develop and execute deal strategy for key opportunities across the region. • Enable and support channel partners and resellers with technical training, joint customer engagements, and demo support — particularly in India, Malaysia, and Singapore where channel ecosystems are critical. • Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and technical questionnaires with clear, compelling, and accurate content. • Maintain deep knowledge of the competitive landscape (NetApp, Dell, Pure Storage, Synology, etc.) and articulate TrueNAS' differentiation with confidence. • Serve as the voice of the APAC customer internally — funneling market feedback, feature requests, and competitive intelligence to Product and Engineering teams. • Draft and contribute to presentations, solution briefs, case studies, and other sales collateral tailored to APAC audiences. • Provide post-sale technical support and guidance to ensure customer success and drive expansion opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Four or more years of pre-sales, sales engineering, or technical consulting experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, storage, or related technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with 2–4 years of experience who demonstrate exceptional technical depth and self-direction will also be considered.
  • Experience selling into or supporting APAC markets is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with open-source storage, NAS/SAN, ZFS, or data center infrastructure is a significant advantage.
  • Strong technical foundation in enterprise storage (NAS/SAN), ZFS, networking fundamentals, virtualization (VMware, Proxmox), and cloud/hybrid integration.
  • Proven pre-sales or sales engineering experience, ideally in enterprise IT infrastructure, data storage, or data center technologies.
  • Comfort navigating diverse business cultures across APAC — from the direct, transactional style common in ANZ to the relationship-driven, consultative approach valued in India, Singapore, and Malaysia.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin or other APAC languages is a plus, particularly for engaging Chinese-speaking business communities in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and collaboration platforms.

Benefits

  • health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
  • paid time-off
  • 401(k)
  • health and flexible spending accounts
  • stock purchase plan and more
