How you’ll make an impact in this role Senior physician leader responsible for coordinating and overseeing the development of a national comprehensive patient safety program to prevent safety events and mitigate the risk of harm across the continuum of care. Leads the integration of patient safety practices, and promotes a culture of safety across the system. Exhibits strong multidisciplinary collaboration with quality, clinical, nursing, risk, legal, pharmacy, and other services to embed safety throughout our clinical processes and achieve safer care. - Senior executive responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing patient safety programs at Ascension, proactively addressing and mitigating risks of patient safety events. - Leads the efforts to integrate patient safety practices, including tiered safety huddles, and promotes a culture of safety across the system, including just culture, through interdisciplinary collaboration. - Data-driven in approaching safety risks, partners with advanced analytics team and implements AI to proactively identify trends and address safety risks from the event reporting system and other sources. - Expertise, including the ability to design and implement curricula in high reliability, process improvement, human factors engineering, efficiency, variation reduction (e.g., lean six sigma), safety event review process and root cause analysis. - Leads the Ascension Patient Safety Organization. #Le@der #LI-Remote What minimum requirements you’ll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: - Physician (MD/DO) required prior to hire or job transfer date Education: - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required - Minimum of 7 years of applicable, job-specific experience, including at least 4 years in leadership/management What additional preferences we're seeking - Leadership experience of five years in safety at a health system level, and proven record of implementing successful efforts at an enterprise level. - Excellent communicator, partners and mentors, and influences other leaders from different disciplines, promoting alignment across different cultures in a heavily matrixed organization. - Advanced skills in evaluating data and analytics.
