Staff Accountant Location: Neptune Township United States Job Description: Client Overview: Our client, a growing professional services company, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team. Salary/Hourly Rate: $65k - $80k Position Overview: Reporting into the Controller, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for all corporate accounting functions. The Staff Accountant will be expected to work cross-functionally with multiple lines of business including Finance and Shared Services. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant: - Prepare, review, and post journal entries. - Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts. - Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. - Compile and analyze financial reports. - Support accounts payable and receivable functions. - Maintain documentation for audits and compliance. - Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements. - Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies. - Participate in process improvement initiatives. Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant: - Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant: - Experience with ERP systems. - Prior exposure to financial audits. - Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards. - Advanced Excel skills. Education Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Role Description The Accountant will oversee the daily financial operations of the company. Your primary goal is to ensure financial accuracy, manage cash flow, and provide insights into job profitability—helping us understand exactly how much we made on every square foot of flooring installed. Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger - Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly bank reconciliations. - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet). - Manage year-end closing processes and coordinate with external tax preparers. 2. Job Costing - Project Analysis: Track material costs (hardwood, tile, laminate) vs. labor costs for every project to determine gross profit margins.. - WIP Tracking: Manage "Work in Progress" accounting to ensure revenue is recognized as jobs are completed. 3.
