Role Description The Accountant will oversee the daily financial operations of the company. Your primary goal is to ensure financial accuracy, manage cash flow, and provide insights into job profitability—helping us understand exactly how much we made on every square foot of flooring installed. Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger - Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly bank reconciliations. - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet). - Manage year-end closing processes and coordinate with external tax preparers. 2. Job Costing - Project Analysis: Track material costs (hardwood, tile, laminate) vs. labor costs for every project to determine gross profit margins.. - WIP Tracking: Manage "Work in Progress" accounting to ensure revenue is recognized as jobs are completed. 3. Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR) - Vendor Management: Process payments to material suppliers and negotiate terms where possible. - Invoicing: Ensure customers are invoiced promptly upon milestone completion or job sign-off. - Collections: Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances. 4. Payroll & Contractor Payments - Process payroll for office staff. - Manage payments for subcontracted installation crews, ensuring all 1099 documentation and lien waivers are signed and filed. Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, home improvement, or retail. - Software: Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online) software. - Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to spot discrepancies in project budgets and material waste.
