Job Description

P&C Broker & Underwriter (Commercial Insurance)

Talencore

Our client, a mid-sized tech-driven commercial MGA and insurance wholesaler in the US, is seeking a P&C Broker & Underwriter to support their newly established Wholesale Broking Division by focusing on placing small commercial risks that fall outside of standard program appetite. This role sits at the center of that effort - working directly with retail brokers and carrier partners to evaluate, structure, and place complex or declined risks into the broader market. This is a hands-on, production-focused role ideal for someone who understands how to get deals done - not just process them. Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent Location: Remote - MUST be physically located in Texas, preferably Dallas (Visa sponsorship is not available) Compensation: $90-115K + production bonus What You'll Do: - Review and assess submissions that fall outside ISC program appetite and market them to external carriers. - Build high-quality submission packages and negotiate terms with carrier partners. - Leverage existing carrier relationships and binding authority to place business efficiently. - Manage a high-volume workflow (~40 accounts/week) across small commercial risks ($2.5K - $100K premium). - Handle renewals, endorsements, and policy documentation with strong attention to detail. - Communicate directly with retail brokers, underwriters, and internal teams to move deals forward quickly. - Ensure accuracy across underwriting files, submissions, and policy documentation. - Support invoicing, cancellations, and claims coordination as needed. - Contribute to building and scaling a new wholesale business unit. Requirements - 3-8+ years of experience in commercial insurance brokerage or production underwriting. - Experience in construction, contractors, hospitality, or casualty-heavy accounts. - Prior experience in a wholesale brokerage or MGA environment. - Must have binding authority with carriers. - Direct experience in small commercial / small market business (not mid-market or large accounts). - Strong underwriting experience across General Liability, Casualty, BOP, Workers’ Compensation, etc. - Established carrier relationships across multiple markets. - Experience building and submitting complete underwriting packages. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal supervision. - Strong communication skills with both brokers and carriers. - Existing book of business or ability to bring over relationships. - Active insurance license. Benefits - Employee Ownership Program - every eligible employee shares in the financial rewards that grow when the company grows - Professional development opportunities - Owner Referral Program - Work from home reimbursement for remote/hybrid roles - Canary emergency financial assistance program - Comprehensive medical, dental, vision - Life/AD&D Insurance - Confidential, Employee Assistance Program - Health Savings Account, includes company contribution - Short-term disability - Voluntary benefits - supplemental accident, critical illness, hospital insurance - Employee discounts - 401(k) Plan with company match contribution - Addition Wealth Financial Wellness Program - Various Time Off Programs - 11 company paid holidays ------------------------ At Talencore, we stand against racism and discriminatory practices. We stand against violence.
