Workday Payroll Consultant

• Lead client discovery and requirements gathering to understand current payroll processes, business rules, and desired outcomes. • Configure payroll solutions to meet defined business requirements and best practice standards. • Partner with data conversion teams to support accurate migration of legacy payroll data. • Assist with end-to-end and parallel testing and validation of payroll configurations, ensuring system accuracy and performance. • Serve as a payroll subject matter expert, answering questions and advising on optimal configuration and process decisions. • Communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to internal stakeholders and client leadership. • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team. • Identify opportunities for additional services and enhancements that support client goals.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Workday Payroll implementation, consulting, or systems configuration with a strong focus on payroll solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and document business requirements and translate them into effective payroll configurations.
  • Prior experience in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Workday Payroll certification.
  • Strong functional knowledge of payroll operations and payroll system logic, including calculations, tax rules, deductions, and reporting.
  • Experience with one or more major payroll or HCM platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, Oracle, SAP, Paychex) with configuration experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing training materials and leading client workshops.
  • Familiarity with integration design, Excel tools, testing methodologies, and data conversion best practices.
