Full TimeRemoteTeam 1,001-5,000

Build something people love Wealthsimple's mission is to help everyone achieve financial freedom – by making financial services simple, transparent, and low-cost. We're Canada's largest fintech, trusted by over 3 million clients with more than $100 billion in assets. We move fast, we own our work, and we care deeply about the people using our products. If that sounds like you, keep reading. We're proud of what we've built — and we're just getting started. Read our Culture Manual and learn more about how we work. About the Role We're looking for a Trader to join our Portfolio Trading team, the group responsible for the daily execution of Wealthsimple's suite of managed portfolios. The team executes large block orders across Equities and ETFs in Canada and the USA, working closely with counterparties to minimize market impact and achieve best execution for our clients, while also managing the firm's foreign exchange risk. In this role, you'll be at the centre of that effort, sourcing liquidity, managing order flow, and helping ensure every trade we place reflects Wealthsimple's commitment to putting clients first. You'll also build and refine the operational processes that keep our trading infrastructure running, write queries that surface meaningful business intelligence, and partner with teams across the organization to solve problems that have real impact. At Wealthsimple, we move quickly and build thoughtfully and we're looking for someone who's energized by that pace. What You'll Do - Execute daily ETF and FX order flow, ensuring best execution and that all trades are accurately posted and reconciled. - Build and improve monitoring processes to proactively catch issues before they reach clients. - Lead day-to-day trading operations for portfolio accounts by measuring, tracking, and improving workflows and associated processes. - Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and resolve gaps that could lead to accounts entering a non-tradable state. - Drive post-incident remediation alongside Portfolio Managers, Client Success, and Core Operations. - Create, optimize, and automate business processes to improve productivity, reduce errors, and lower transactional costs. - Implement and monitor metrics for critical operational and trading processes. - Partner with Core Operations, Data Science, and Engineering to continuously improve upstream and downstream workflows, including reconciliation, policy development, and procedure execution. - Troubleshoot issues end-to-end: identify root causes, resolve them, and build systems so they don't recur. What You Bring - Capital markets fluency. 1 to 2 years of experience in a Capital Markets or Banking environment, with an understanding of equity (ETFs specifically) and FX markets. The Ideal candidate will have already completed CSI’s Canadian Securities Course. Pursuit of the CFA charter is a bonus. - Analytical horsepower. Strong SQL and Excel skills are a must, and comfort with large data sets is essential. Bloomberg experience is a plus. - Operational precision. Detail-oriented and process-driven, with the critical thinking to know when a process needs to be followed and when it needs to be rebuilt. - Ownership mindset. You take initiative, deliver with urgency, and lead by example whether you're building a new process from scratch or improving one that already exists. - Clear communication. You can distill complex ideas for any audience including management, engineering, or a client-facing partner. - Builder's mentality. You're excited by the challenge of scaling a business, comfortable with ambiguity, and find genuine satisfaction in solving complex problems. You're happy to roll up your sleeves and help wherever you're needed. Why Wealthsimple? 🌸 Top-tier health benefits and life insurance 📈 Long-term group savings with employer match, through Wealthsimple for Business 🌴 20 vacation days, 4 wellness days, and unlimited sick and mental health days per year ✈️ 90 days away: work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year 👥 Employee resource groups, including Rainbow (2SLGBTQ), Women of WS, and Black at WS 🌎 We are a hybrid team with over 1,500 employees across North America. The people are one of the best parts of working here: you'll collaborate with incredibly talented, curious, and driven teammates who are deeply committed to doing great work. ICYMI Technology & Innovation at Wealthsimple: We move quickly and build thoughtfully. That means we're always looking for better ways to work — whether that's new tools, AI, or rethinking how we approach a problem. We don't expect you to have all the answers, but we do expect curiosity and a willingness to evolve alongside the products we're building.
