VELOCIX LIMITED

As the CDN Product Architect, you will be the primary technical authority responsible for the end‑to‑end design, evolution and long‑term architectural strategy of the Velocix CDN platform. This role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring deep distributed‑systems expertise, strong architectural leadership, and the ability to shape the platform that powers high‑scale video delivery for major global operators. You will define the future of Velocix’s CDN architecture across all major functional areas: caching, request routing, traffic distribution, edge delivery workflows, observability, resilience, automation and multi‑cloud deployment. You will collaborate closely with R&D, Product Management, Operations, DevOps and Customer Delivery teams to ensure the platform remains performant, scalable and competitive in a rapidly evolving industry. This is a high‑visibility and high‑impact role that directly influences Velocix’s product roadmap and long‑term technical direction. Roles & Responsibilities Architectural Leadership - Own the complete architecture of the Velocix CDN platform, including caching nodes, request routing components, edge delivery pipelines, monitoring systems and control‑plane services. - Define architectural principles, technical standards and patterns across all CDN engineering domains. - Lead technical design reviews, architectural deep dives and cross‑team strategy discussions. - Provide authoritative guidance on long-term technical direction and platform evolution. CDN Core System Design - Architect high‑performance caching systems and distributed storage solutions optimised for massive content footprints. - Design and refine edge delivery workflows for live, VOD, low‑latency streaming, time‑shift TV and large‑object delivery. - Develop algorithms for request routing, traffic steering, load distribution, failover management and multi‑tier CDN hierarchies. - Ensure platform compatibility with multi‑CDN federation and interconnect ecosystems. Scalability, Performance & Reliability Engineering - Define strategies for scaling CDN components across multi‑region, multi‑cloud and hybrid deployments. - Optimise cache hit ratios, origin offload, concurrency handling and end‑to‑end delivery performance. - Identify performance bottlenecks, participate in profiling, and lead optimisation and tuning initiatives. - Architect redundancy models, disaster recovery mechanisms and automated failover strategies. Standards, Protocols & Emerging Technologies - Ensure adherence to relevant standards including HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2, HTTP/3/QUIC, TLS and caching protocol specifications. - Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate them into the Velocix CDN roadmap. - Provide guidance on transport‑layer evolution, new media‑delivery specifications and interoperability best practices. Cross‑Functional Collaboration - Translate market requirements into technical architectures in collaboration with Product Management. - Work with DevOps and Operations on deployment models, observability frameworks, CI/CD automation and operational guardrails. - Support Sales Engineering, Customer Success and Professional Services with deep architectural expertise for complex engagements. Tools, Automation & Observability - Contribute to the architecture of logging, metrics, tracing and troubleshooting systems across CDN layers. - Participate in automation initiatives to improve deployment velocity, resilience and operational efficiency. - Support the evolution of internal testing frameworks, benchmarking tools and simulation environments for large-scale traffic scenarios. Communication & Thought Leadership - Articulate architectural vision and design principles clearly to engineering, executives, partners and customers. - Produce technical documentation, white papers, diagrams and long‑term architectural roadmaps. - Mentor senior engineers and promote architectural excellence across teams. Work Experience Requirements - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field. - 10+ years of experience working with large‑scale distributed systems, CDNs, traffic engineering platforms or high‑performance networking stacks. - Proven track record designing and delivering production-grade CDN architectures or large‑scale caching/distribution solutions. Key Competencies - Deep CDN expertise: caching strategies, request routing algorithms, edge delivery architectures and distributed object management. - Strong distributed‑systems background: scalability models, replication, consistency, redundancy and fault-tolerant design. - Expertise in networking and transport protocols: HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2, HTTP/3/QUIC, TLS, TCP optimisations, DNS, IPv4/IPv6 routing, Anycast. - Strong understanding of cloud, virtualisation and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). - Hands‑on experience with observability systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry). - Programming experience in C, C++ and/or Python. - Familiarity with hardware acceleration, kernel‑level optimisations and high‑throughput networking pipelines. - Demonstrated leadership in architectural decision‑making, mentoring and cross‑team influence. - Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder‑management skills.
