Location We are hiring for this role to be based in the United States or Canada. This is a remote role unless you fall within the following parameters. If you live within approximately 50 miles of our San Mateo, CA or Provo, UT office, the position follows a hybrid schedule with in-office days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. About The Role As Associate General Counsel, Commercial, you'll lead and scale GC AI's commercial legal function, reporting directly to the General Counsel. You'll own the full commercial deal cycle for a company growing at extraordinary speed, supporting enterprise and mid-market transactions while building the infrastructure, playbooks, and team that will carry us through the next phase of growth. The Team As a Lead Commercial Counsel, Lending Partnerships at Upstart, you’ll be joining a close-knit, collaborative team of attorneys who work in a fast-paced innovative environment. You will act as a key point person for our Lending Partnerships business, while also handling a broad range of commercial, business development, and transactional legal matters across the entire organization. This position is unique because it offers exposure to new legal issues and the opportunity to work on diverse tasks such as contract drafting and negotiation and a number of projects that will arise as we continue to scale. Experience drafting and negotiating complex B2B SaaS agreements is required. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements involving financial services and/or technology licenses in a heavily regulated environment is a big plus. Role Description Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for the Office of General Counsel. In this role, you will play a leadership role in the Office of the General Counsel and CLO Organization by supporting both Humane World for Animals and Humane World for Animals International legal and governance operations and by working closely with the General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer to provide substantive legal advice and oversight of the organization’s legal operations. This employee will be a key thought partner and thought leader in supporting the General Counsel/CLO’s efforts to develop legal strategies, modernize operations and will recommend and collaborate on efforts to leverage process improvements, develop workflows and to standardize policies and procedures necessary for a strong legal infrastructure. These efforts will include talent development efforts, training, strong client engagement, and the development of a legal leadership cohort to foster the sharing of knowledge within the legal teams and providing leadership over the division’s operations and budget.
