Position Summary The Network Accountant – US Oncology Network Accounting is an individual contributor responsible for executing core accounting activities for assigned US Oncology Network practices. This role supports the month-end close process, balance sheet integrity, and financial reporting by performing journal entries, account reconciliations, and analytical reviews under the guidance of Senior Accountants and Accounting Managers. The Network Accountant applies established accounting principles, exercises sound judgment within defined procedures, and contributes to process improvement initiatives in a dynamic, multi-entity environment. Key Responsibilities - Execute assigned month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules. - Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items. - Support income statement review through expense analysis, variance explanations, and identification of unusual activity. - Perform accounting activities related to prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, intercompany transactions, and notes receivable/payable. - Build and maintain appropriate supporting documentation for transactions and controls, including Information Used in Controls (IUC). - Partner with Senior Accountants and Accounting Managers to identify process improvement opportunities and assist with implementation efforts. - Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and responding to routine inquiries. - Utilize Excel and accounting systems to manage large data sets and perform calculations accurately and efficiently. - Collaborate effectively with practice controllers and internal stakeholders to support timely and accurate financial reporting. - Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards. Minimum Requirement Degree and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience. Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience. Critical Skills - Typically requires 3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience. - Working knowledge of US GAAP and accounting close processes. - Solid understanding of balance sheet and income statement accounts and account usage. - Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries. - Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIFS, IF statements). - Experience with ERP systems (PeopleSoft preferred; SAP a plus). Additional Skills - Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to follow established processes while identifying opportunities for improvement. - Comfort working with large volumes of transactions in a deadline-driven environment. - Interest in leveraging automation, AI, and process improvement tools. Preferred - Experience supporting multi-entity or healthcare-related accounting environments. - CPA or CPA-eligible preferred. - Experience with physician practice or network accounting preferred.
