Travel 50% HVAC experience and certification is required Fluent written and verbal communication in English required Our Field Robotics Engineer, HVAC are our boots on the ground, working directly with the customer providing technical hands-on support. As the on-site point of contact, with the support of the teams at headquarters you’ll work to resolve in-the-field machines issues. The FRE position will also support our sales organization and CSM team with scheduled demos and site visits. You will make sure to keep certification and training up to requirements per region. Responsibilities & Duties: Field Support - Provide on-site technical support to farmers and operators to ensure every aspect of the laser weeder operates efficiently. - Train operators and farm personnel on the proper use and maintenance of the system. - Respond promptly to service calls and provide high-quality customer support. Preventive Maintenance - Work closely with field team to execute bi-weekly and monthly PM tasks on the current LaserWeeder fleet. - Ensure all LaserWeeder units are operating at peak performance through scheduled inspections, calibrations, and updates. - Document completed maintenance tasks and report any recurring or potential issues to the Field Robot Engineers and engineering teams. - Make sure the chiller and AC on our laserweeders are working in perfect condition. You’re the HVAC specialist and together with 1 other HVAC specialist you make sure everything is up and running. Documentation and Reporting - Maintain detailed records of all diagnostics, repairs, and system updates. - Provide feedback to the HVAC team on recurring issues and potential areas for system improvement. - Document best practices and troubleshooting guides for future use. Qualifications - HVAC specialist category 1 or 2. If you have 2 you have to be willing to get category 1. - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, particularly in customer-facing scenarios to maintain the Carbon Robotics reputation of being highly customer driven with resources to execute tasks at a high level. - Maintains positive working relations with all support stakeholders. - Organization, scheduling and ability to work independently while managing conflicting and overlapping work activities. - Comfortable working in an outdoor agricultural settings, including farms and fields, often in varying weather conditions. - Maintenance tasks are performed at a high level and maintained in accordance with support, product and engineering teams. - Attends and participates in meetings related to support and Slayer performance. - Provides high quality training to incoming FRE’s. - Develop knowledge of Slayer and all associated systems. - Travel will be required to support customers on-site. What You’ll Work On - Install and Maintain Diagnostic Systems: Complete installations, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on assigned instruments to ensure optimal performance and compliance with quality standards. - Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Diagnose technical problems across multiple complex instruments, document resolutions accurately, and close service calls within defined timelines. - Own Customer Satisfaction: Manage customer issues from start to resolution or escalation, deliver superior service, and build strong relationships through proactive communication. - Manage Territory Effectively: Plan and prioritize service visits, maintain accurate inventory, and support on-call rotation, after-hour coverage, and travel for training or critical account support. - Ensure Compliance and Safety: Follow all regulatory, quality system, and laboratory safety guidelines during service activities; maintain accurate documentation for audits. - Collaborate and Mentor: Partner with cross-functional teams to meet business goals and provide guidance to other Field Service Representatives to strengthen team capability. - Achieve Business Metrics: Meet targets for service sales, cost of service, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for assigned accounts. - Continuous Improvement: Utilize remote support tools to maximize instrument uptime and maintain certifications through ongoing training and development. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. - 2-5 years of experience in Engineering or Laboratory Technology. - Ability to travel 40% within the assigned territory. Experience Preferred: - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with laboratory instrumentation - Ability to work independently and thrive in team environments - Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet) and remote computing tools (VPN, remote troubleshooting) - Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
