Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8) Department/Organization: 702202 - Contract and Grant Accounting Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Note to Applicants: Position is eligible for remote work subject to University policy. Job Summary: The Accountant II prepares, reconciles, and audits budgets. Prepares financial reports, invoices, schedules, and/or statements. Completes journal entries. Reviews, analyzes, and approves expenditures. Determines fund balances. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, University policies, and procedures. Provides guidance and trains entry-level accountants. Additional Department Summary: Interpret terms and conditions within negotiated contracts and grants and apply Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations. Monitor all expenditures for compliance with the applicable laws, rules, regulations and sponsor terms and conditions. Prepare and submit financial reports and bills according to sponsor guidelines and apply payments as applicable. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or related financial field and two (2) years of accounting experience; OR Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance and other federal guidelines. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting with five years of professional accounting experience and/or five years of contract & grant accounting experience. Areas include equity method of accounting, fixed assets, leased assets, and POC accounting. - Reviewing consolidated subsidiaries’ standalone financial statements to build a strong understanding of the company’s operations and ensure accurate disclosures in the Company's financial statements - Working extensively with the company’s ERP system by building customized reports to support efficient data analysis and reconciliations - Providing suggestions and support for process improvements/efficiencies - Supporting corporate accounting team in the month-end close - Assisting with requests from external auditors to provide necessary documentation and information for audits
• Own end-to-end billing and collections operations, including customer invoicing, AR aging management, and proactive collections outreach across our enterprise customer base • Apply technical revenue recognition expertise (ASC 606) to complex customer arrangements, including multi-element contracts, variable consideration, contract modifications and conducting SSP analysis • Partner with Sales and Deal Desk on contract reviews to assess revenue recognition implications and advise on deal structuring under ASC 606 • Prepare and own month-end close deliverables including revenue recognition, deferred revenue and unbilled receivable reconciliation, subsidiary accrual accounting, and flux analyses on revenue and receivables related accounts • Support the annual financial statement audit, including preparation of revenue-related schedules and technical accounting memos • Prepare revenue-related analyses and disclosures for periodic and ad hoc financial reporting • Document and maintain billing, collections, and subsidiary accounting processes, identifying and driving opportunities for scalability and automation • Design and maintain robust internal controls over the revenue recognition and billing cycle, supporting audit readiness and a strong control environment • Assist in overseeing the international accounting team on close and compliance related tasks. • Support ad-hoc projects (such as process improvements, system implementations, AI initiatives, tax compliance, etc.)
• Process payments for vendor services and handle reimbursements accurately and on time. • Track and maintain records of costs, insurance claims, theft-related payouts, and recovered funds. • Manage and update transaction logs in shared databases, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. • Verify incoming invoices, identify discrepancies, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues. • Ensure timely invoice processing and proper financial record keeping. • Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports to support visibility and decision-making. • Support budget tracking, cost analysis, and identification of trends or inefficiencies. • Collaborate closely with the Procurement Coordinator and internal teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
