Smith+Nephew is seeking an Enterprise Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of SAP S/4HANA surround and satellite systems across the enterprise. This role defines end-to-end architecture for SAP-integrated platforms including CRM, PLM, MES, Finance, HR, Procurement, Analytics, and custom digital solutions, ensuring scalability, security, compliance, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards. The Enterprise Architect partners with business leaders, SAP functional teams, system integrators, and platform owners to translate business capabilities into target-state architectures. The role leverages AI-assisted and GenAI-enabled design techniques for architecture modeling, option analysis, impact assessment, and automated documentation. Key Responsibilities 1. SAP Surround & Satellite Architecture • Define target and transition architectures for SAP S/4HANA surround systems (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Ariba, Workday, Veeva, Windchill, Kinaxis, MuleSoft, analytics platforms, and custom applications). • Design resilient integration patterns (API-led, event-driven, middleware-based) ensuring performance and data integrity. • Govern master data, reference data, and transactional data flows across SAP and non-SAP systems. 2. Enterprise Architecture & Governance • Establish and enforce enterprise architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures. • Conduct architecture reviews and provide design assurance across programs and projects. • Ensure alignment with security, privacy, validation, and regulatory requirements. 3. AI-Enabled Architecture Design • Apply AI and GenAI tools to accelerate architecture design, dependency mapping, and documentation. • Use AI-assisted analysis for impact assessment, technical debt identification, and optimization. • Collaborate with AI platform teams to embed architecture intelligence into delivery pipelines. 4. Stakeholder & Delivery Collaboration • Partner with business, SAP functional leads, delivery teams, and vendors to ensure architectural alignment. • Support roadmap planning, sequencing, and delivery governance for ERP and digital initiatives. Experience Requirements • 12–15 years of experience in enterprise and solution architecture with strong SAP ecosystem focus. • Proven experience designing global SAP S/4HANA surround landscapes. • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), integration, and data architectures. Core Competencies • Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF or equivalent). • SAP S/4HANA integration and landscape design. • AI-assisted architecture and modern design practices. • Executive-level stakeholder communication.
