Position Summary We're looking for a passionate 3D Artist to join our team in Chicago. Our ideal candidate has traditional art skills with a strong portfolio that focuses on character/organic modeling and texturing. We’re looking for a team player who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, with strong communication skills. Essential Job Functions: - Sculpt, model, and texture characters and organic models. - Work with the Lead Artist, Designers, Riggers and Animators to balance quality and game performance. - Create great looking art in a variety of styles, both from reference and from scratch. - Maintain the style and look for different characters on the same game. - Create both high resolution 3D sculpts and final low polygon game assets. - Maintain excellent file structure and organization. - Able to filter and evaluate criticism on a professional level. - Continually sharpen 3D artistic abilities and software expertise through company training, independent learning, and learning from other team members. Qualifications Minimum requirements: - Specialization in character/organic modeling using Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Zbrush (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs). - Understanding of how rigging and animation impact character creation. - Ability to assess and build clean, efficient geometry for maximum performance in engine. - Understanding of next generation asset creation pipelines and tools. - An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling. - Strong eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps. - Able to effectively collaborate and work creatively as part of a large or small group. You'll really get our attention if: - You are skilled in one or more related disciplines – illustration, animation, visual effects, or technical art. - You have experience with Substance Painter. - You love to solve problems, and you love to collaborate. - You love games, movies, animation, and you love dissecting them while thinking how to take them to the next level. Please include: - Portfolio/Demo Reel – Only digital applications will be accepted (website, blog, online portfolio, etc.). - Please provide all links. - Layered working 3D files for 3ds Max/Maya, Photoshop files for textures, and or After Effects files for compositing may be requested. - Art test may be requested. Work Conditions: - The work conditions are representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations. This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago studio. Team members are expected to be in the office 3 days a week to support collaboration and studio culture. What we need We are seeking talented Mid to Senior Animators to join our team in Los Angeles. This role involves creating high-quality, expressive, and compelling animation across a variety of characters and creatures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of animation principles, excellent technical skills, and a proven ability to deliver exceptional work within production timelines. What you do - Create polished, high-fidelity keyframe animation that meets the aesthetic and technical requirements of the project. - Collaborate closely with the Animation Director, Designers, and Technical Artists to ensure animations integrate seamlessly into the final product. - Contribute to the development of animation pipelines, tools, and best practices. - Mentor junior animators and provide constructive feedback to peers to elevate the overall quality of animation. - Participate in motion capture direction, cleanup, and implementation when required. - Iterate rapidly on animation assets based on feedback from the team and play testing /dailies.
