Role Description We are seeking talented Mid to Senior Animators to join our growing team in Australia. This role involves creating high-quality, expressive, and compelling animation across a variety of characters and creatures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of animation principles, excellent technical skills, and a proven ability to deliver exceptional work within production timelines. What you do - Create polished, high-fidelity keyframe animation that meets the aesthetic and technical requirements of the project. - Collaborate closely with the Animation Director, Designers, and Technical Artists to ensure animations integrate seamlessly into the final product. - Contribute to the development of animation pipelines, tools, and best practices. - Mentor junior animators and provide constructive feedback to peers to elevate the overall quality of animation. - Participate in motion capture direction, cleanup, and implementation when required. - Iterate rapidly on animation assets based on feedback from the team and playtesting/dailies. Qualifications - 3+ years of professional experience as an Animator in top tier features and episodic projects (Mid-Level). - A strong portfolio demonstrating a solid grasp of the 12 Principles of Animation, weight, timing, and appeal. - Proficiency in industry-standard 3D software. - Experience working with production pipelines (e.g., ShotGrid). - 5+ years of professional experience, with demonstrated ownership over significant animation features or sequences (Senior-Level). - Expert-level keyframe animation skills and a deep understanding of character mechanics and performance capture data. - Proven ability to self-manage tasks, prioritise effectively, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Experience with rigging, scripting (e.g., Python, MEL), or technical animation is highly desirable. - Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within an animation team. Compositing Supervisor - Australia Who we are Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects company with a strong foothold in features and episodic television. We are hiring a Compositing Supervisor with experience in managing compositing teams, while producing high quality results and maintaining color continuity. This person must be comfortable supervising on a variety of shows and/or formats. This is a full-time staff position with benefits. What we need Crafty Apes is seeking a Compositing Supervisor to manage compositing teams, produce high-quality visual effects results, and ensure color continuity across various shows and formats. The role requires expert knowledge of Nuke and 3D packages, along with a proven track record of delivering photo-real work with quick turnarounds. This supervisor must be able to develop workflow and pipeline strategies, effectively communicate and delegate compositing needs to the team, and manage administrative duties such as mentoring artists and monitoring shot progress, all while maintaining a highly professional demeanor. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong artistic skills, effective problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and time management skills, especially when juggling many shots to meet tight deadlines. What you do - Communicate and delegate the compositing needs of the show to the team in order to ensure that the quality of work is of the highest of standards. - Develop workflow and pipeline strategies in order to ensure proper workflow methodology for all artists. - Display a thorough understanding of the process combined with relevant artistic skills. - Competent user of Nuke with a proven track record delivering photo-real work with quick turnarounds. - Ability to juggle many shots at once in order to meet show deadlines. - Effective problem-solving skills. - Ability to take direction from the VFX Supervisor. - Manage both hands-on operation of a workstation as well as the administration duties, including mentoring artists, monitoring shot progress, monitoring show resource usage, and gauging deliverables with Production Management. - Maintain a highly professional demeanor and level of diplomacy. What you need - Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree preferred, but not required. It would be a huge plus! - Minimum 2- 3 years as a Compositing Supervisor. - Expert knowledge of Nuke and 3D packages. - Solid experience in problem solving, as well as leading and training teams of Compositors. - Excellent communication skills, artistic skills, and time management. - Proven ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas. - High level of experience in an episodic television and/or fast paced environment. - Strong understanding of color correction, blue & green screen, roto, mattes and tracking technologies.
