Payroll Specialist
Rula
• Ensure Rulans are paid accurately and on time • Support accurate and timely payroll processing through thorough data review and timesheet validation • Audit and maintain employee data, compensation records, and tax setups in ADP Workforce Now, Carta, and Fidelity to ensure accuracy and compliance • Help develop and refine payroll documentation, including standard operating procedures and workflow guides • Ensure compliance with multi-state, local, and federal labor and tax regulations • Assist with tax filings, payroll, and bank reconciliations • Support year-end processes such as W-2 preparation • Respond to payroll inquiries with professionalism and discretion
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of related professional experience in payroll processing, accounting or people operations
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now and SmartCompliance
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate results under tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and a high level of integrity
- 1+ years of experience at a high-growth, remote start-up (preferred)
- Working knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and tax laws (preferred)
- Degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field (preferred)
- Experience with month, quarter, and year-end payroll reconciliations (tax, 401(k), benefits) (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally (preferred)
