Field Service Engineer

• Perform Saphyr and Straty installations, upgrades, preventative maintenance and repairs at customer sites • Diagnose and resolve complex instrument faults minimizing downtimes • Maintain regular, frequent communication with customers/internal partners ensuring resolution leading to customer satisfaction • Collaborate with regional and global FSE, FAS, Sales, Development and Technical Support personnel for team success • Keep up to date on administrative responsibilities such as providing timely and accurate installation/maintenance reports, parts ordering/returns and expense reporting • Provide relevant customer information updates to internal partners in support of BNG goals and provide technical feedback and design suggestions for product improvement. • Engage inaccurate utilization of the company’s customer database (CRM) • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- 2+ years supporting capital equipment in research or clinical fields
- Qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Biosciences or relevant military experience with electronics/optical imaging experience.
- Experience in the alignment and troubleshooting of imaging systems or relevant research/clinical devices.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Professional communication and writing skills, interacting well with customers/internal partners.

• Perform preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration/verification of instrumentation using established company standard work. • Promotes a positive customer experience and serves as on-site customer contact for technical and service-related problems. • Work in a wide variety of municipal and industrial settings, including but not limited to drinking water & wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, chemical manufacturing plants, food & beverage processing facilities, etc. • Submits prompt, accurate service reports that affect billing, inventory, instrument history, and instrument failure. • Follows safe work practices according to company policy. • Executes administrative activities in support of service visits. • Daily travel to customer sites. This role will be based in San Diego, CA, area and support our customers throughout the territory. Company-paid travel, accommodations, and meals are provided for overnight stays.
• Lead Field Service technical advisor for technical support both on site or as a resource for the customer and other Field Service personnel • Supervises staff (Elliott, customer and contracted) at customer sites • Quotes jobs and assists with invoicing content and business decisions affecting profitability • Manages complex packages and contracts; investigates problems, customer complaints and disputes • Performs hazard identification and mitigation for all tasks being performed as part of job responsibilities • Manages effective field service reporting to assure proper feedback of product or contact trouble
• Responsible for meeting daily service repair needs • Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field • Completes all scheduled maintenance within deadlines • Maintains currency on all technical certifications • Provides technical support to customers as required
