Job Description
Product Quality Engineer
GE Aerospace
• Review and approve supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) results • Drive supplier compliance to Source Substantiation Plans or design intent verification • Act as the technical focal point to coordinate supplier quality activities with internal cross-functional teams • Interfacing with suppliers to ensure adherence to quality procedures, product drawings, and specification requirements • Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation • Perform supplier product audits, ensuring compliance, and drive improvement plans • Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Supplier Quality Operations and New Product Introduction / Management of Change (MOC) teams as required • Provide supplier product release direction when part approval cycles are not complete • Communicate with direct colleagues and the business on the status of First Article Inspection (FAI) and Significant Process Substantiation (SPS) • Provide onsite support at suppliers, as needed (approximately 15% travel)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with at least 7 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering
- Fluent ability to read, write and speak English to facilitate communication with international colleagues
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality
- Demonstrated machining, fabrications, rotating parts and/or compressor airfoils manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and passion for quality
- Strong background in interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications
- Demonstrated history of problem solving, root cause and corrective action methodology, data analysis and quality experience
- Training in Root Cause Analysis tools including 8D, 5-Whys, etc.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
- Established project management skills and interpersonal skills to direct cross-functional work with demonstrated project management ability to drive projects to completion
- Team player with the ability to work in cross-functional and global team environments
- Established project management skills
- Highly motivated self-starter with initiative and ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
