The role: SoFi is seeking an attorney to support the continued expansion of SoFi Pay, SoFi’s global remittance transfer product, and SoFi’s broader international growth initiatives. This role will support the Associate General Counsel responsible for global expansion and will focus on advising the business on licensing, regulatory, and product-launch considerations in foreign jurisdictions. The attorney will work closely with international counsel and cross-functional partners, including compliance, risk, product, engineering, and business teams, to help navigate regulatory frameworks, obtain necessary licenses and approvals, and support the launch and operation of financial products outside the United States. This is a dynamic role that will evolve as SoFi’s international footprint expands. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, comfortable operating in ambiguity, and excited to help build scalable legal and regulatory foundations for global financial products. What you’ll do: ● Serve as a key legal partner supporting continued expansion of SoFi Pay, SoFi’s global remittance transfer product, including advising on remittance transfer requirements and applicable international regulatory regimes. ● Support SoFi’s international expansion strategy by assisting with licensing analyses and applications, coordinating with international outside counsel, and helping manage ongoing regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions. ● Translate complex local legal and regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for internal stakeholders, including business, product, engineering, compliance, and risk teams. ● Partner cross-functionally to support the launch and operation of financial products in foreign markets, including advising on post-licensing operational and compliance considerations. ● Monitor and interpret regulatory developments affecting global payments, remittances, and financial services, and proactively communicate implications and risks to internal stakeholders. ● Support regulatory engagement and internal governance processes related to international expansion initiatives. ● Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with international partners, vendors, and service providers as needed to support SoFi’s global expansion efforts. What you’ll need: ● JD from an accredited law school ● Member of the applicable bar ● 4 to 6 years of legal experience, ideally at a major law firm or in-house at a financial institution or fintech ● Experience or exposure to one or more of the following: ○ International licensing or regulatory frameworks ○ Global payments, remittances, or international financial products ○ U.S. bank regulatory law and supervision ● Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to advise across technical and non-technical teams ● A practical, business-minded approach to balancing legal risk and innovation in a dynamic fintech environment Nice to have: ● Prior experience as product counsel at a fintech or financial institution ● Familiarity with blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, including an understanding of how these technologies may be used to support payments, settlement, or cross-border remittance products Compensation and Benefits The base pay range for this role is listed below. Job Specifics As ED, you will: - Serve as the General Manager and own the complete Profit and Loss (P&L) for the entire state.
