Job Description

Engineering Manager – Tech Lead

Hypoport SE

• Architecture & Modernization: Designing, developing, and scaling our core systems (C#/.NET, MS SQL) into resilient, containerized services running on Linux/Kubernetes. • Reducing internal technical complexity while strengthening stability, resilience, and maintainability to sustainably improve productivity. • Making informed architecture and platform decisions and evolving technical standards (modularization, interfaces, security, Infrastructure as Code). • Embedding non-functional requirements such as observability, performance, scalability, security, and deployment early in scoping. • Providing technical support to Product Managers during discovery and prioritization processes and explaining complex technical issues in an understandable way. • Expanding and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) and establishing clean code practices, code reviews, and automated testing (unit & system tests) with a clear shift-left mindset. • Increasing development speed (time-to-market) through measurably shorter development cycles and more frequent, reliable deployments—aiming to be able to release to production at any time. • Sustainable quality improvement in software development, measured, among other things, by how rarely production features need to be rolled back or reworked. • Establishing AI/LLM-assisted development in day-to-day engineering (e.g., Copilot-assisted coding, test generation, knowledge building) to create real value for the team. • Taking responsibility for ensuring knowledge is accessible across the team and not tied to individuals. • Building structured, clear, and up-to-date process and system documentation that makes relevant architectures, decisions, and workflows transparent. • Developing and establishing practical best-practice guidelines, technical standards, and policies with a focus on quality and efficiency. • Line management and coaching of developers in architecture, clean code, systemic thinking, and container and deployment responsibilities. • Empowering the team to make independent decisions within clear guardrails; when in doubt, you make the decision. • Fast and effective onboarding of new team members through clear structures, good documentation, and systematic knowledge transfer. • Promoting continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and constructive communication.

Job Requirements

  • Innovative mindset & technological foresight: Experience integrating new technologies and digital solutions to strengthen processes and competitiveness.
  • Solid understanding of the capabilities and limitations of AI in an enterprise context.
  • Experience with AI/LLM-assisted development and ideally with integrating AI-based features.
  • Strong development expertise: Several years of experience in C#/.NET or comparable languages and in the technical leadership of developers.
  • Confident handling of scalable database systems (MS SQL, PostgreSQL) and modern backend architectures (modular services).
  • Ideally experience with Angular (v15+) and RabbitMQ.
  • Basic openness to new technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker/Kubernetes, fully automated deployments, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Solid knowledge in slicing, scaling, and orchestrating services.
  • Experienced with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (unit & system tests).
  • High quality standards without a quick-fix mentality—pragmatic with a holistic product understanding.
  • Product-centric working style and the ability to translate discovery results into clear, structured technical solutions.
  • Audience-appropriate communication of complex technical matters—even to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize requirements in a structured and traceable way by (business) impact and effort.
  • Open, clear, and inspiring leadership—especially during times of change.
  • English at least C1 (team), German at least B2 (stakeholders).

Benefits

  • Feelgood: Events such as team activities, a summer party, and regular offsites strengthen team cohesion and ensure cross-location exchange.
  • Office benefits: Our offices feature height-adjustable desks, stability balls, free drinks & snacks, and more. You can even bring your dog to the office.
  • Quality time: We offer 30 vacation days per year for full-time employees. We also have internal special leave regulations and the possibility of flexible leave. Additionally, we allow mobile working according to policy.
  • Be part of us from day one: Look forward to comprehensive onboarding on various topics, a welcome event, and an open-minded team. During your onboarding you will be supported by a buddy.
  • On top: You benefit from Hypoport perks, e.g., discounts in 300 online shops, workplace glasses, special conditions for a JobRad, and many more.
