HVDC Field Service Engineer
Hitachi
• Providing first line support along with maintenance & repair services for the Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA). • Working closely with the existing Service Team to gain the competencies to provide 1st line support. • Maintaining a safe working environment for all site employees & mitigate the risks. • Ensuring ethical behavior in line with code of conduct. • Managing Health Safety and Environmental risks associated with the business unit. • Delivering exceptionally high availability to the entire HVDC system. • Controlling and performing work activities on HV/LV electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems. • Maintaining the value and maximize the design life of the system. • Maintaining a strong relationship with this valued customer. • Living Hitachi Energy core values of safety and integrity.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience in HV power systems or a heavy industrial environment.
- Safety switching experience/Power plant operational experience/ General certificate in occupational health and safety/ IT / Cyber security experience.
- Experience providing safety from the system and safe systems of work.
- Maintenance / fault finding experience with UPS systems, Battery Chargers, Air Handling Units, Pumps, PLCs & Generators.
- Driving license.
- MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Fire detection and protection system awareness / maintenance experience.
- Maintenance / fault finding experience with SCADA / PLCs and control systems.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English.

• The Service Technician performs work remotely at customer sites; installing and servicing equipment while also providing customer training and support, as necessary. • Troubleshoots and repairs injection molding machines and robots, including conducting tests and inspections on all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic or software components including calibrations to optimize performance. • Performs software and hardware installations. • Performs all safety checks on equipment. • Educates customers on equipment and instructs on proper operation. • Manages resolution of customer issues, including order and installation of replacements parts as necessary. • Orders replacement parts with diagnoses of problems with control systems and develops an organized approach to solving machine problems and repairs/replaces parts as required. • Instructs other Service Technicians and/or customer operators on the maintenance and safe operations of injection molding systems. • Communicates on an ongoing basis with Central Service/Manufacturing/Parts Center to obtain answers to problems encountered in the field. • Provides written reports on a regular basis to the Service Manager.
