Job Description The Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer will serve as the primary technical authority for Exchange Online and key Microsoft 365 services within Symetra’s Productivity Team. This role is responsible for engineering, configuration, support, and continuous enhancement of the M365 ecosystem, with primary ownership of Exchange Online and secondary ownership of Microsoft Purview compliance implementations and Azure Entra ID identity integrations. You will lead the modernization and simplification of this clients messaging environment, including the strategic initiative to eliminate the remaining on‑premises hybrid Exchange footprint. This role also requires deep partnership with compliance, security, and key business stakeholders to ensure platform stability, regulatory alignment, and best‑practice adoption across a fully remote workforce. Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer Top Required Skills Exchange Online (Deep SME Level) - Extensive hands‑on administration, engineering, and troubleshooting experience in large enterprise environments. - Proven ability to lead the full migration from hybrid Exchange to a fully cloud‑based footprint. Microsoft Purview (Compliance & Retention) - Strong expertise implementing and managing retention, compliance, and regulatory policies—ideally within financial‑services or similarly regulated industries. Azure Entra ID (M365‑Focused Usage) - Solid understanding of authentication flows, Conditional Access, RBAC, and identity/service integrations across the M365 ecosystem. - Ability to operate as a Senior technical mentor and guide team members with varying levels of experience. • Designs, develops, and maintains RESTful APIs connecting mobile and web applications to backend services. • Develops, refines, and maintains the irrigation scheduling engine, optimizing logic for water efficiency, environmental conditions, and user preferences. • Builds and manages database schemas, queries, and data models to support device telemetry, scheduling, user data, and analytics. • Integrates with AWS IoT Core to handle secure device connectivity, telemetry ingestion, command processing, and synchronization with the cloud. • Implements core business logic and automation for irrigation, notifications, and AI-driven recommendations. • Collaborates closely with the Machine Learning Engineer to integrate predictive models and automate decision-making based on environmental or device data. • Designs and maintains telemetry ingestion pipelines to process high-frequency data from connected devices. • Ensures backend systems meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements through monitoring, testing, and proactive optimization. • Implements security best practices, data protection policies, and access controls across backend systems. • Writes unit and integration tests for backend services and collaborates with the QA/Automation Engineer to ensure coverage, CI/CD integration, and deployment quality. • Collaborates with frontend, mobile, and IoT engineers to deliver consistent and efficient user experiences. • Documents backend architecture, APIs, and data flows to support internal development and cross-team alignment. • Troubleshoots and resolves production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and high system availability. • Evaluates and adopts emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and design patterns to improve system performance and maintainability. • Focuses on the voice of the customer and continuously improves products and services to deliver meaningful user value.

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of infrastructure and cloud services engineers. • Manage engineers who support on-premises, virtualized, and cloud infrastructure ensuring high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance. • Oversee engineers who manage and optimize multi-cloud platforms (AWS and Azure), including landing zones, IAM, networking, security, and guardrails. • Partner with DevOps resources in the design and operation of secure, resilient CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and GitOps workflows. • Oversee engineers that manage infrastructure elements of WAN/LAN, VPN, DNS, load balancers, and cloud networking. • Partner with Information Security to implement and maintain security controls (MFA, RBAC, encryption, key/secrets management).

• Design and implement solution architectures that satisfy client requirements, with a strong focus on AI-enabled and cloud-native applications. • Design AI-enabled workflows such as chatbots, search, summarization, and automation. • Leverage RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), agentic AI patterns, vector databases, and enterprise search in applied solutions. • Orchestrate multi-service AI solutions that combine LLMs, APIs, and cloud services. • Guide clients and teams through cloud modernization projects, supporting migrations and adoption of cloud-native practices. • Understand data security and residency requirements, addressing client concerns around sensitive data in AI-enabled systems. • Ensure solutions comply with security and regulatory standards while managing technical risks across architectures. • Support Services teams during delivery by addressing architectural questions as projects evolve and refining designs when new requirements or complexities emerge. • Build prototypes and participate in demos with clients to showcase how AI and cloud can add value. • Create solution diagrams and architectures for client decks to support pre-sales discussions. • Partner with clients in pre-sales support: participate in meetings, capture requirements, and collaborate with the sales lead. • Communicate architectural decisions clearly to both business and technical audiences. • Balance functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. • Support scoping and estimation for solutions across multiple industries, validating requirements with internal and external stakeholders. • Collaborate closely with technical leads, developers, designers, strategists, and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions. • Leverage Architech’s cloud and technology partners to strengthen solution proposals. • Work directly with mid-sized and enterprise clients, ensuring solutions align to their scale, security, and business needs. • Embrace and contribute to the achievement of Architech’s sustainability goals relating to Good Health & Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equity, and Reduced Inequalities.
