Network Technician

Role Description The Network Technician supports the Tier 2 Network Engineer in the physical installation, basic configuration, and ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure at client sites. This role ensures high‑quality execution of deployment activities while maintaining strict adherence to client standards for safety, documentation, and asset management. Key Responsibilities - Physical Installation: - Unbox, rack, and install network devices according to project design specifications. - Connect equipment to designated PDUs and perform cross‑patching as required. - Label, tag, and document all installed equipment following client standards. - Inventory & Asset Management: - Verify packing slips, PO numbers, and part numbers for accuracy. - Upload packing lists, label devices, and manage asset tag assignments. - Maintain a clean and safe work environment by discarding debris appropriately. - Prepare equipment for e‑waste pickup when decommissioned or no longer in use. - Basic Configuration & Testing: - Power on devices and validate baseline factory functionality. - Assist engineers with basic device configuration under supervision. - Support execution of site test plans and accurately report test results. - Documentation: - Contribute to the creation and maintenance of device asset records, inventory logs, and installation photo reports. - Update project checklists throughout all phases of the project. - Support documentation handover packages for both site builds and decommissions. - Support & Troubleshooting: - Provide first‑level support for network issues during builds and handover. - Assist with RMA workflows for defective or failed equipment. Qualifications - Hands-on experience with physical network installations (racking, cabling, patching). - Strong communication skills—clear, concise, and responsive. - Basic understanding of network hardware, cabling types, and structured cabling standards. - High attention to detail, especially in documentation and asset tracking. - Ability to follow technical instructions, diagrams, and safety protocols. - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required for equipment handling. - Willingness to travel up to 40% annually.
