Overview A Palo Alto Firewall Engineer responsibilities includes tasks like deploying, configuring, and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls, creating and maintaining security policies and access controls, and responding to security incidents. Engineers work with Panorama for centralized management and collaborate with other IT teams to ensure network security and performance. This is a hybrid role (3 days onsite per week) in our Nashville, TN or Tulsa, OK office. Responsibilities - Deployment and configuration: Install, configure, and manage Palo Alto firewalls in various environments (on-premises and cloud). - Policy and rule management: Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, VPNs, and NAT rules. - Monitoring and incident response: Monitor network traffic, analyze logs, and respond to security events and incidents. Participation in 24/7 on call rotation. - Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve complex network and firewall-related issues. - Maintenance: Keep firewall software, threat databases, and licenses up-to-date. - Optimization: Optimize firewall performance and ensure high availability. - Key skills and knowledge Qualifications Security products: - Expertise with Palo Alto firewalls and the Panorama management platform is crucial. Knowledge of PANOS-SDWAN, Prisma Access, and Aruba Clearpass is highly desirable. Networking: - Knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, OSPF, and BGP is desirable. Security: - Understanding of security best practices, intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS), and threat prevention is essential. Cloud: - Experience with cloud environments and their integration with Palo Alto solutions is required.
