The Financial Operations Manager provides financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting support for a business unit or department and analyzes budgets with insight into business changes. Prepares, consolidates, and reports on revenue and/or expenditures. Manages overall financial operations and financial planning & analysis, serves as a liaison in the procurement process, and may manage the execution of contracts and ensure compliance with contract requirements. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline finance operation processes and develops new procedures that support the business unit/department. Responsibilities - Prepares, consolidates, and reports on annual operating, salary, and capital budgets. Serves as a liaison to management for monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements. - Summarizes the financial status of the business unit or department. Identifies specific causes of significant variances between the year-to-date budget and year-to-date actuals. - Conducts multi-year financial planning and generates financial forecasts and budgets driven by identifying key assumptions and dependencies. Analyzes variances to forecasts and budgets with insight into business changes and outlook. Collaborates with other business units/departments and organizational finance teams to manage forecasting and other financial and operations functions. - Improves business performance by analyzing both operational and financial data. Generates forecasts and budgets. Analyzes trends in revenues, expenses, and other areas of business. - Compiles and reviews departmental budgets, taking into consideration actual performance, previous expenditures, and estimated expenses and income. Reviews departmental expenditures to ensure compliance with budget allocations. Maintains accurate spending records and establishes measures for budgetary control. - Provides oversight or executes processes and/or systems that support financial operations. - Processes and prepares accounting entries. Reviews and audits financial statements and reports. Ensures all calculations and data entries are correct. Reconciles general ledger accounts for discrepancies and identifies errors. - Responds to internal client inquiries on financial systems, policies, and procedures. Conducts financial training to address needs. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or management with a finance concentration. - 3+ years experience managing budgeting, financial operations, consumer research, or accounting functions. - 5+yrs of experience in finance or related quantitative field. - Strong understanding of variance analysis. - Advanced Excel skills. - Demonstrated ability to standardize processes and improve workflows. THE OPPORTUNITY: The Assistant Director of Compliance assists the Principal, Legal Counsel in ensuring ActBlue's corporate entities remain compliant with campaign finance regulations, corporate/entity registrations and non-profit tax obligations. This role has primary responsibility for timely and accurate campaign finance reporting to the FEC as well as regulators in nearly two dozen states, with working knowledge of requirements in all other states. Working with the Principal Legal Counsel and Compliance Associate, this position maintains the infrastructure for gathering, reviewing, and assembling data for these reports as well as federal campaign finance and non-profit tax filings. They manage the project calendar, internal tracking tools, and direct the Compliance Associate's report preparation. The Assistant Director ensures ActBlue's website and tools accept contributions in accordance with campaign finance regulations. As ActBlue expands into new areas, this role researches and designs compliance systems for new activities, approves operations in new jurisdictions, integrates new campaign types, and provides expertise and support on internal product initiatives and new tools. They also serve as the primary staff resource on campaign finance matters. This position manages relations with regulatory agencies, serving as the first point of contact for issues or questions from state regulators. They develop solutions to compliance questions and maintain positive regulator relationships. The Assistant Director leads preparation of periodic IRS reports for ActBlue entities, coordinating with Finance and outside vendors as needed. The role also assists Finance with annual tax return preparation to ensure full compliance with non-profit tax regulations. The role occasionally includes special projects supporting the Legal & Compliance team. • Plays a critical role in structuring, evaluating, and approving long-term contracted distributed power solutions across data centers, utilities, oil and gas, and industrial markets. • Supports the commercial organization by developing pricing structures, financial models, and risk assessments for projects deployed in both grid-interconnected and behind-the-meter configurations.
• Day to day support on tasks for Agency finance leadership • Manage and prepare revenue reporting (weekly, monthly, YTD, FY) and provide revenue/variance analysis. • Monthly review of the Client revenue as part of the month-end close alongside business leadership; identifying action items to be completed by finance or business teams • Monthly preparation and review of client trackers inclusive of billing/invoicing, utilization/realization, and percentage completion • Prepare budgets and forecasts; deliver proactive data to enable key decisions. • Analyze staffing, utilization and billability; support resourcing plans across accounts. • Review and process Statements of Work (SOWs); ensure client scope approvals and manage Purchase Orders (POs). • Effectively manage and track projects; run recurring project status meetings with cross-functional teams. • Ensure timely billing of agency fees and out-of-pocket expenses; partner with Account Management on billing cadence. • Assist with Accounts Receivable (AR), Work in Progress (WIP), and accrued/deferred revenue analysis. • Support audit requests and compliance with GAAP and internal policies. • Serve as gatekeeper for Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and contract compliance. • Collaborate with the broader Finance team and portfolio leadership; provide tactical and strategic guidance to solve problems. • Perform ad hoc reporting as needed and continuously improve processes and controls.
