Modern Family Law, a rapidly expanding national family law firm, is seeking an experienced People & Culture Specialist to join our People & Culture Team, with a focus on employee relations, leave of absence, and compliance.   As a member of the People & Culture team, this role is responsible for independently managing day-to-day employee relations matters, coordinating leave and accommodation processes, supporting compliance efforts across multiple jurisdictions and maintaining clear and consistent documentation and processes. This role partners closely with employees, managers, and People & Culture Leadership to support fair, consistent, and compliant practices across the Firm. While this position is expected to work independently in handling routine matters, any interpretation of Firm policy, policy exception, or matter involving elevated legal or employee relations risk must be reviewed with People & Culture Leadership before guidance or decisions are communicated.  Modern Family Law offers competitive compensation, a wide range of benefits, and a collaborative team.  While this role is remote, the People & Culture Specialist must reside in California.  Key Responsibilities:    - Exercise independent judgment in handling routine matters; escalate any issue involving interpretation of Firm policy, policy exceptions, or elevated legal or employee relations risk to People & Culture Leadership for review before final guidance is communicated.  - Conduct prompt, thorough, and well-documented employee relations reviews and investigations in partnership with People & Culture Leadership and other relevant stakeholders as needed.  - Prepare clear, accurate, and organized documentation regarding employee relations matters, findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions.  - Support managers in addressing employee relations matters, performance concerns, and workplace issues in a fair, consistent, and compliant manner.  - Administer leave of absence and accommodation matters, including ADA, FMLA, state and local leave laws, and religious accommodations, in partnership with People & Culture Leadership.  - Coordinate the interactive process for leave and accommodation requests, including documentation, communication, and collaboration with employees, managers, and other stakeholders.  - Support compliance efforts across multiple jurisdictions by assisting with research, process updates, handbook and policy administration, and implementation of state-specific requirements.  - Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures and process documentation related to employee relations, leave of absence, accommodations, and compliance to support consistency and scalability.  - Utilize available data, documentation, and observations to identify trends, recommend process improvements, and support People & Culture initiatives related to employee experience, compliance, and operational effectiveness.  - Partner with People & Culture Leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve issues effectively and in compliance with applicable laws and Firm policies.  - Stay current on developments in employee relations, leave administration, and employment law and apply that knowledge to day-to-day work.  - Perform other duties, responsibilities, and related assignments as directed by People & Culture Leadership to support departmental and organizational needs.
