• The MHS Data Analyst supports enterprise-wide Revenue Cycle Modernization and Innovation (RCMI) initiatives across the Military Health System (MHS). • This role is responsible for executing analytical efforts across a diverse portfolio of internal and external projects ranging from rapid-turnaround analyses to complex, long-term efforts supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA) strategic priorities. • The analyst serves as a connector across MHS directorates, DHA leadership, and external partners to advance data-driven decision-making and modernize revenue cycle operations. • Success in this role requires deep familiarity with the MHS data ecosystem, including MHS GENESIS, Health Data Intelligence (HDI), Discern Analytics, Bulk Data Extract (BDE), M2, FMIS, SQLFarm, and other MHS Information Platform (MIP) tools. • The analyst will develop actionable insights, ensure audit-readiness, and support enterprise performance management across Revenue Cycle initiatives. • This position proactively identifies operational challenges, performs root-cause analyses, and supports the design of innovative, data-informed solutions to strengthen revenue cycle performance across the MHS while independently managing project-level tasks and deliverables. • The ideal candidate combines advanced technical skills (Vertica SQL, analytics, database engineering) with deep domain expertise in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM).

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Candidates with an ACTIVE "SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics or a related field.
  • THREE (3) or more years of MHS data analytics experience or other relevant experience.
  • Experience analyzing military health data or working with MHS-specific systems.
  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle operations, processes, and KPIs.
  • Knowledge of the MHS data ecosystem, including MHS GENESIS and the MHS Information Platform (MIP).
  • Experience working with MHS data tools such as BDE, M2, FMIS, SQLFarm, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience performing advanced Excel functions (e.g., Power Query).
  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a consultancy mindset.
  • Ability to develop strong team and client relationships.
  • Experience analyzing medical and/or pharmacy claims data.
  • Programming experience with SAS, R, Python, or SQL.
  • Assist in shaping analyses for legislative requirements or priority RCMI initiatives; validate metrics, conduct trend analysis, and identify anomalies.
  • Support enterprise standards, audit-readiness documentation, and analytical frameworks related to RCMI operations.
  • Perform root-cause analyses to identify data inconsistencies, ETL challenges, and operational issues impacting revenue cycle performance.
  • Collaborate with MHS stakeholders to identify modernization opportunities, operational gaps, and innovation pathways leveraging emerging data capabilities.
  • Client-facing experience in a consulting environment.
  • Master’s degree in statistics, economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, data analytics, data science, or related field.
  • Experience with statistical modeling techniques (e.g., generalized linear models, difference-in-differences, logistic regression).
  • Experience with machine learning, RPA implementation, or emerging technology integration in federal environments.

This role is responsible for establishing and operating governance controls related to HR data access, security, SOX compliance, and User Access Reviews (UARs) across HR systems. This is a critical role that partners closely with HR, HR Technology, IT, Audit, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure HR data is protected, access is appropriately governed, and controls are consistently executed—while still enabling efficient HR operations and scalability. The ideal candidate has strong experience in access governance, audits, and compliance within enterprise SaaS systems, and the ability to balance strong controls with HR business needs. This role will be responsible for facilitating the effective execution of critical internal audits in partnership with IT, Audit, and external partners.
