Junior Public Health Salesforce Developer

Flourish & Thrive Labs

At Flourish and Thrive Labs, we believe in the unique value each candidate brings. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds and experiences, even if you don't meet all listed qualifications.

Junior Salesforce Developer WE ARE LOOKING FOR A TEAM MEMBER WITH GOVERNMENTAL PUBLIC HEALTH EXPERIENCE (LOCAL / TRIBAL / STATE / FEDERAL). IF YOU HAVE THAT EXPERIENCE IN ADDITION TO SALESFORCE SKILLS, PLEASE ENSURE IT IS CLEAR ON YOUR RESUME. What do we mean by governmental public health? We're looking for people who have worked directly for a public health agency: a local health department, tribal health organization, state health department, or federal public health agency like CDC or HRSA. We require this because there's no substitute for the lived experience of navigating government systems, understanding the constraints public health staff face, and developing genuine empathy for the people doing this work. That empathy shapes how we build solutions. SALESFORCE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE. We are looking for candidates who have hands-on experience with the Salesforce platform, not those looking to learn Salesforce from scratch. Compensation Note: If a salary range is listed for this position, please note that we will be offering at the starting point of the band. We cover 100% of your health insurance! Role Overview We're seeking a Junior Salesforce Developer who brings more than technical skills. We need someone who understands public health and can translate that understanding into solutions that actually work for health department staff. This role is about building technology that fits how public health actually operates. Your background in public health means you'll understand why a disease investigator needs to access data a certain way, or why a reporting workflow has to account for multiple jurisdictions. You won't just write code to spec. You'll build solutions that make sense because you've lived the work. You'll be part of a collaborative team working on our PH360 platform and client implementations. You'll learn from senior developers and architects who are invested in your growth, while contributing your own public health expertise to help the team build better solutions. This isn't a role where you'll be coding alone in a corner. You'll be pairing with teammates, participating in design discussions, and helping ensure what we build truly serves our clients. If you've ever looked at a public health technology system and thought "I could build something better," this is your opportunity. How You'll Work You'll be part of an Agile Release Train (ART) that follows SAFe principles. This means: - Program Increment (PI) Planning: You'll participate in quarterly planning sessions, learning how technical roadmaps come together and contributing your public health perspective - Sprint Collaboration: You'll work in two-week sprints with daily standups, regular backlog refinement, and sprint retrospectives - Pair Programming: You'll work alongside senior developers who will help you grow your technical skills - Team Problem-Solving: You'll be part of discussions where your understanding of public health workflows helps the team build better solutions Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Flow - Collaborate with senior developers and architects on solution design - Bring your public health perspective to technical discussions and design decisions - Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives - Write clean, well-documented, testable code that follows team standards - Learn and apply Salesforce best practices through code reviews and mentorship - Help translate public health requirements into technical implementations - Ask questions, seek feedback, and continuously improve your craft Experience Required - 1-2 years of hands-on Salesforce development or administration experience (required) - 1+ years working for a governmental public health agency (local, state, federal, or tribal) - Salesforce Administrator certification required (Platform Developer I preferred, or willingness to obtain within 6 months) - Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly - Strong collaboration and communication skills Technical Requirements - Hands-on experience with the Salesforce platform (required) - Basic understanding of Apex, SOQL, or similar programming languages - Familiarity with Salesforce declarative tools (Flow, Process Builder, validation rules) - Understanding of relational databases and data modeling concepts - Exposure to version control (Git) or willingness to learn Preferred Qualifications - Salesforce Platform Developer I certification - Experience with Lightning Web Components or other JavaScript frameworks - Familiarity with Agile or SAFe methodology - Background in public health data systems, case management, or epidemiology workflows - Trailhead Ranger status or significant Trailhead completion What We Offer for Your Growth - Mentorship: You'll be paired with senior developers who are genuinely invested in helping you succeed - Certification Support: We'll support your journey to additional Salesforce certifications - Learning Time: Our natural consulting rhythm includes quieter periods that create space for training and professional development - Meaningful Work: You'll contribute to projects that directly impact public health communities from day one Notice Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Willingness to adhere to our no-drug workplace policy. You must agree to undergo eVerify for employment status at hiring. No 3rd Party Recruiters. We value initiative. If you're genuinely interested in this role, show us. (However, please do not use the "Schedule a Meeting" feature on our website. You will be disqualified.) We notice candidates who take the extra step to express real interest. Demonstrate the value that you will add to F&T Labs. At Flourish and Thrive Labs, we believe in the unique value each candidate brings. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds and experiences, even if you don't meet all listed qualifications

About Us Flourish and Thrive Labs is a woman-owned and led consulting firm specializing in public health solutions. Our team, composed of former public health officials, works with state and local health departments across the country, building resilient public health operating systems. We pride ourselves on being different, holding ourselves to high ethical standards, and taking care of each other. We are a wacky bunch who are intent on spreading joy! (We just mailed out stickers to over 200 local health professionals because we felt they could use more joy!) As Salesforce, Microsoft, Snowflake, and AWS partners, we specialize in technology implementation with a strong people focus. We combine this with strategic planning, data analysis, coaching, and facilitation to effectively support local public health department staff. Our core values are: - People First - Focus on Capacity Building - Belief in Continuous Experimentation - By Public Health; For Public Health - We Do What Is Right. Always. We're seeking passionate, joyful individuals who align with our ethos of being different and making a difference. Role Overview We're looking for a Senior Salesforce Developer who thrives in collaborative environments and wants to build technology that makes a real difference in public health. You'll work within our SAFe Agile framework alongside architects, consultants, and fellow developers to deliver Salesforce solutions for health departments nationwide. This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork over solo heroics, enjoys iterating on solutions with input from colleagues and clients, and finds satisfaction in building systems that help communities flourish. How You'll Work You'll be part of an Agile Release Train (ART) that follows SAFe principles. This means: - Program Increment (PI) Planning: You'll participate in quarterly planning sessions where you'll help shape the technical roadmap alongside the full team - Sprint Collaboration: You'll work in two-week sprints with daily standups, regular backlog refinement, and sprint retrospectives - Cross-functional Teams: You'll collaborate closely with architects, business analysts, and quality engineers rather than working in silos - Continuous Improvement: You'll have regular opportunities to reflect on what's working and suggest improvements to our processes Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Flow - Collaborate with architects on solution design and implementation approaches - Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives - Write clean, well-documented, testable code that follows our team standards - Partner with QA to ensure high-quality deliverables - Contribute to code reviews with constructive, supportive feedback - Help translate public health requirements into technical solutions - Support the development of our PH360 platform Experience Required - 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience - 1-3 years of work experience in governmental public health (local, state, federal, tribal, or non-profit) - Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments - Salesforce Platform Developer I certification required Technical Requirements - Strong proficiency in Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components - Experience with Salesforce Flow and declarative automation tools - Understanding of Salesforce data modeling and security model - Familiarity with integration patterns and REST/SOAP APIs - Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices - Knowledge of testing frameworks and test-driven development Preferred Qualifications - Salesforce Platform Developer II certification - Experience with Service Cloud or Health Cloud - Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements - Experience with SAFe Agile methodology - Background in public health data systems or epidemiology workflows About Consulting at F&T Labs If you're new to consulting, we want to help you understand what makes F&T Labs different and why our approach might be perfect for you. We know transitioning from government and non-profit to consulting can be a big step. We've designed our work environment to blend the best of both worlds. How we work: Unlike traditional consulting firms, we hire you for a role, not a specific project. This means you can contribute to various initiatives that match your expertise and interests. Think of it as bringing your public health superpowers to different challenges where they're needed most. We believe in measuring what matters. While many consulting firms focus on billable hours, we care about the quality and impact of your work. Time sheets don't measure your success with us. Success is measured by the meaningful solutions you help create for our clients and their communities. Yes, we have utilization targets (consulting speak for how much of your time is spent on client work). We view these as guideposts rather than strict rules. They help us ensure we're making a sustainable impact while maintaining a healthy business. These targets are meant to motivate, not to create stress. The natural rhythm of consulting: Some weeks might be bustling with activity, while others might be quieter. We embrace these ebbs and flows because they create space for both intense, focused work and time for learning, reflection, and personal growth. This is part of our philosophy that work and life shouldn't be at odds. They should be integrated in a sustainable and energizing way. At our core, we're built on a simple belief: when our team members flourish, our clients flourish, and ultimately, communities thrive. That's why we've created an environment that supports your growth, values your expertise, and understands that the best solutions come from people who feel empowered and energized by their work. If you're passionate about public health and excited about expanding your impact through consulting, we'd love to talk with you. Your experience in public health is valuable, and we're here to help you apply it in new and meaningful ways. Notice Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
