Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant
Guardian Life
• Develop cost-effective strategies to assist individuals with disabilities in returning to the workplace • Work with Guardian plan holders, employees, and physicians to coordinate return to work opportunities through job accommodations and return to work strategies • Assess claimants medical, psychological condition, social and economic situation, aptitudes, work experience, restrictions and limitations, educational background, and behavioral/motivational factors • Compare assessment with policy rehabilitation provisions and make cost/benefit analysis to develop programs • Maintain proactive dialogue with claimants, plan holders and treatment providers • Cost-effective utilization of vendors to provide rehabilitative services • Coordination with public services/governmental agencies to control costs • Collaborate with Disability Clinical & Vocational Services staff and case managers to reduce duration of disability • Serve as educational resource on vocational rehab aspect of claims • Utilize standard vocational resources effectively to perform occupational assessments; perform transferable skills analyses and labor market surveys • Apply knowledge of the ADAAA to identify effective work-related accommodations • Work with plan holders to identify/effectuate appropriate worksite modifications and transitional work plans
Job Requirements
- 5 or more years of actively providing vocational rehabilitation/case management services to disabled individuals in an insurance setting
- Case Management experience strongly preferred
- Master’s Degree required, preferred in Rehab Counseling
- Receipt of, or eligibility for, certification in profession, such as Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS), Certified Case Manager (CCM)
- Excellent verbal and communications skills
- Ability to exercise independent & sound judgment in decision making
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, clinical, and information research skills
- Excellent time management & organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task with the ability to manage continually changing priorities and the ability to prioritize work based on customer service needs and departmental regulations
- The ability to remain flexible due to changing business needs
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OASYS, ERI, OOH, BLS

Location Designation: Fully Remote Role Overview: The Advanced Planning Group supports all agents of New York Life. The ideal candidate will have at a minimum, five to ten years of experience in the areas of estate planning and business planning, charitable planning, asset protection planning, and income tax planning. While not required, a working knowledge of life insurance products would be an asset. What You’ll Do: - - Agent Support – Collaborate closely with agents, general office management, and consultants to provide personalized case consultations and case design services. Assist agents in identifying estate, charitable, business, transnational, and retirement planning strategies that align with clients' goals while seamlessly integrating product solutions. - - Estate and Business Planning Case Design – Create customized and sales focused estate and business planning cases that specifically address a client’s planning needs. Assist and collaborate with other members of the Case Development Team as they develop estate and business planning cases to ensure that all team members are providing the highest level of technical support. - - Presentations – Present on a variety of advanced planning concepts on national and regional webinars as well as for agent study groups. Serve as subject matter expert to address technical questions coming in through the chat online seminar function. Create new presentations on advanced planning concepts for agent training and seminars for our field consultants and agents to use with clients. - - Content Development - create new content for the advanced planning group library including pieces for agent use only as well as concept pieces designed for client use. Collaborate with your peers on the case design team to develop new content for our customized planning presentation templates. - Peer review APG Library Content - as library pieces come up for renewal, peer review content assigned to you. Submit corrections and updates to the sales support team. - Take a leadership role in implementing new initiatives through opportunities resulting from changing laws, integration of new company products, and content development around core offerings working collaboratively across the organization. What You’ll Bring: - - Minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience working in the advanced market. Possess a detailed understanding of estate and gift transfer tax planning, business planning, qualified and non-qualified retirement planning, charitable planning, and income tax planning. - Juris Doctor required. - Experience in presenting complicated advanced planning techniques to other advisors and to clients and should have experience engaging parties to implement suggested strategies. - Detailed knowledge of life insurance products, life insurance taxation, life insurance funding (e.g., split dollar, premium financing) and how to utilize life insurance for a high-net-worth individual’s business and estate planning needs. - Experience integrating financial planning concepts and estate and business planning strategies to develop a comprehensive plan for high-net-worth clients and business owners. - Ability to work independently with little to no technical guidance from management or other members of the Case Development team. #LI - EM1 #LI - REMOTE Pay Transparency Salary Range: $150,000 - $185,000 Overtime eligible: Exempt Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes Sales bonus eligible: No Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location.
