• Support go-to-market efforts for new products and initiatives, providing practical global tax guidance on novel or complex tax matters. • Own U.S. international tax calculations and processes (e.g., GILTI, FDII, FTC, Pillar 2, BEAT), and review U.S. international tax filings including FBAR, Forms 8865, 5471, 8858, 1118, ensuring accuracy and completeness. • Prepare quarterly and annual international tax provisions and monitor U.S. and foreign tax law changes for business impacts. • Conduct extensive tax research, develop well-supported positions, and prepare documentation for tax reviews and audits. • Support global transfer pricing, including intercompany agreements, documentation, and compliance with TP policies. • Partner with strategic finance, accounting, treasury, legal, GTM, engineering, product, and operations teams to optimize tax positions across the business. • Lead global tax planning efforts, including modeling and projections, and support multi-jurisdictional local compliance and audits. • Manage external advisors, monitor deliverables, and maintain budget oversight to ensure cost-effective, high-quality outcomes. • Drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements
- At least 8+ years of U.S. international tax and global advisory/compliance experience, ideally within blockchain, crypto, or high-growth environments.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. international tax rules and related reporting requirements, with the ability to quickly interpret new guidance and apply it to novel business models.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities; able to form well-supported tax positions and document them clearly.
- Proven ability to operate independently, take ownership of complex workstreams, and make sound judgments in ambiguous situations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders and collaborate across diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience coordinating external tax advisors, managing deliverables, and overseeing budgets.
- High level of resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness; comfortable in startup-like settings requiring process creation and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred.

This is a long‑term role offering which is ideal for someone looking for stability and a diverse workload. The successful candidate will manage a broad range of responsibilities across accounting, bookkeeping, and compliance functions, supporting both internal processes and client engagements. You will work independently, demonstrate strong technical expertise, and contribute to the efficient operation of our practice. Job Description: Title: Tax Director Reports to: Controller Location: US or Canada (remote) Vacancy: This is an existing vacancy The Role: Manage tax for a multinational company (primarily US/Canada/Mexico/UK/Germany/China/Japan) specializing in data and analytics, consumer insights, and advisory services. Work closely with external tax service provider and with European Tax Director. The Impact: The person in this position will manage all aspects of tax for the company. They will work closely with the company’s external tax service provider (both in the US and in foreign countries) to ensure that all tax matters are addressed appropriately and timely, and to advise senior management on tax matters (such as new law changes, or as it relates to acquisition targets, etc.), and work closely with European Tax Director. Responsibilities: - Oversee and review externally prepared year-end income tax provision to ensure accordance with ASC 740. - Prepare quarterly estimated tax provisions for bank reporting purposes - Prepare estimates of cash tax payments to be made in future quarters - Work with external tax service provider to review and/or prepare: - Federal, state and foreign (Canada, China, Japan, Germany) income tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions, including gathering and calculating taxable income and other related tax adjustments and disclosures, and assist with reconciliation of tax-related GL accounts as necessary - Sales and use tax returns, including reconciling company data to filings (ensuring balances reflected in the GL are appropriate) - Partnership reporting and shareholder K1s - Manage tax audits and respond to federal and state agencies inquiries and tax notices (with assistance from external tax service provider) - Perform research on various tax issues as necessary, including federal and state income taxes as well as sales and use, property, and excise taxes - Assist with due diligence on acquisition targets, and post-acquisition nexus determination, as necessary - Ensure completeness and accuracy of ongoing global filings - Collaborate with Accounting team to ensure intercompany balances are managed/cleared at appropriate intervals in order to avoid negative tax ramifications - Assist in maintaining internal controls to comply with SOX - Negotiate fees with external tax service provider as necessary - Determine what is critical and what is not in order to simplify processes and focus time/effort/resources on most important things - Work closely with members of the Accounting team, and communicate well Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or related field. CPA preferred - 5+ years of recent public accounting experience or currently working for multi-national corporate tax department - Experience leading Tax function of a multinational company with revenue in excess of $100M - Experience with sales and use tax determination and filing - Strong USGAAP/ ASC 740 accounting background - Capacity to manage multiple complex activities at a high level of accuracy - Strong technical research skills with the ability to understand, communicate and address technical matters as they relate to the Company’s business This position has a starting salary range of $200,000 to $220,000 USD or $150,000 to $155,000 CAD per year.
