Job Description: Title: Tax Director Reports to: Controller Location: US or Canada (remote) Vacancy: This is an existing vacancy The Role: Manage tax for a multinational company (primarily US/Canada/Mexico/UK/Germany/China/Japan) specializing in data and analytics, consumer insights, and advisory services. Work closely with external tax service provider and with European Tax Director. The Impact: The person in this position will manage all aspects of tax for the company. They will work closely with the company’s external tax service provider (both in the US and in foreign countries) to ensure that all tax matters are addressed appropriately and timely, and to advise senior management on tax matters (such as new law changes, or as it relates to acquisition targets, etc.), and work closely with European Tax Director. Responsibilities: - Oversee and review externally prepared year-end income tax provision to ensure accordance with ASC 740. - Prepare quarterly estimated tax provisions for bank reporting purposes - Prepare estimates of cash tax payments to be made in future quarters - Work with external tax service provider to review and/or prepare: - Federal, state and foreign (Canada, China, Japan, Germany) income tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions, including gathering and calculating taxable income and other related tax adjustments and disclosures, and assist with reconciliation of tax-related GL accounts as necessary - Sales and use tax returns, including reconciling company data to filings (ensuring balances reflected in the GL are appropriate) - Partnership reporting and shareholder K1s - Manage tax audits and respond to federal and state agencies inquiries and tax notices (with assistance from external tax service provider) - Perform research on various tax issues as necessary, including federal and state income taxes as well as sales and use, property, and excise taxes - Assist with due diligence on acquisition targets, and post-acquisition nexus determination, as necessary - Ensure completeness and accuracy of ongoing global filings - Collaborate with Accounting team to ensure intercompany balances are managed/cleared at appropriate intervals in order to avoid negative tax ramifications - Assist in maintaining internal controls to comply with SOX - Negotiate fees with external tax service provider as necessary - Determine what is critical and what is not in order to simplify processes and focus time/effort/resources on most important things - Work closely with members of the Accounting team, and communicate well Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or related field. CPA preferred - 5+ years of recent public accounting experience or currently working for multi-national corporate tax department - Experience leading Tax function of a multinational company with revenue in excess of $100M - Experience with sales and use tax determination and filing - Strong USGAAP/ ASC 740 accounting background - Capacity to manage multiple complex activities at a high level of accuracy - Strong technical research skills with the ability to understand, communicate and address technical matters as they relate to the Company’s business This position has a starting salary range of $200,000 to $220,000 USD or $150,000 to $155,000 CAD per year. This is the range we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for the role at the time of posting. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or related field. CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of recent public accounting experience or currently working for multi-national corporate tax department.
  • Experience leading Tax function of a multinational company with revenue in excess of $100M.
  • Experience with sales and use tax determination and filing.
  • Strong USGAAP/ ASC 740 accounting background.
  • Capacity to manage multiple complex activities at a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong technical research skills with the ability to understand, communicate and address technical matters as they relate to the Company’s business.
  • This position has a starting salary range of $200,000 to $220,000 USD or $150,000 to $155,000 CAD per year.
