At Pinterest, we’re on a mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and that starts with the people behind the product. Discover a career where you ignite innovation for millions, transform passion into growth opportunities, celebrate each other’s unique experiences and embrace the flexibility to do your best work. Creating a career you love? It’s Possible. At Pinterest, AI isn't just a feature, it's a powerful partner that augments our creativity and amplifies our impact, and we’re looking for candidates who are excited to be a part of that. To get a complete picture of your experience and abilities, we’ll explore your foundational skills and how you collaborate with AI. Through our interview process, what matters most is that you can always explain your approach, showing us not just what you know, but how you think. You can read more about our AI interview philosophy and how we use AI in our recruiting process here. Pinterest runs on AI, and our AI governance and compliance program ensures that AI is developed, deployed, and used in ways that align with evolving legal requirements, Pinterest’s values, and our long‑term strategy. As the Principal Product Manager, AI Compliance, you’ll define and drive the product strategy that ensures our Pinner and Advertiser facing artificial intelligence models are developed, deployed, and used in a way that are aligned with our values, strategic objectives, and account for relevant obligations. You’ll shape how Pinterest uses data, models, and tooling to innovate quickly and responsibly. What you’ll do: - Drive AI compliance and governance product strategy across Pinner- and advertiser-facing AI products, ensuring that model training and inference align with global regulatory obligations, internal policies, and Pinterest’s values. - Own user-facing and internal data controls for AI training (e.g., AI data opt-out mechanisms), setting requirements and roadmaps that balance product performance, privacy, and regulatory needs while ensuring effective internal enforcement and awareness. - Expand and support AI compliance tooling—from detection and labeling systems (such as watermarking and provenance) to governance workflows and inventories—so teams across Pinterest can build compliant AI experiences efficiently and consistently. - Partner deeply with Legal, Privacy, Policy, Security, and Engineering to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, prioritized product workstreams and scalable platform capabilities. - Lead high-visibility, cross-functional programs that span multiple product areas, infrastructure, and engineering teams, creating alignment on tradeoffs, sequencing, and resourcing for AI governance initiatives across the company. - Serve as a principal-level thought partner on AI governance, influencing long-range AI product strategy, identifying new risk or compliance gaps early, and advocating for the infrastructure and processes needed to keep Pinterest ahead of regulatory change. What we’re looking for: - Deep AI/ML or data platform product experience, including building or scaling products that rely on model training data, user data, or complex backend systems; experience in AI safety, responsible AI, or AI compliance is a strong plus. - Proven success driving cross-company, multi-year programs at a Staff/Principal level (or equivalent), especially in ambiguous problem spaces that require both strategic frameworks and hands-on execution. - Experience working closely with Legal, Privacy, Policy, and Security teams to operationalize regulatory or policy requirements into product features, data controls, and platform capabilities. - Fluency with data and governance concepts—comfortable reasoning about data classification, lineage, retention, opt-outs, and enforcement, and partnering with technical teams to define robust measurement and monitoring. - Track record of building or scaling compliance or governance tooling, such as policy engines, inventories/registries, detection or labeling systems, approval workflows, or audit and reporting capabilities. - Exceptional communication and influence skills, with the ability to align executive stakeholders and cross-functional partners around a clear point of view on AI risk, compliance tradeoffs, and sequencing. - Comfort operating in fast-changing regulatory and technical environments, with a bias toward pragmatic, principle-driven solutions that protect users and the business while enabling innovation. - Ability to lead and operate in highly ambiguous environments and execute with urgency. - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience Relocation Statement: - This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. Visit our PinFlex page to learn more about our working model. In-Office Requirement Statement: - We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we’re not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. - This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration periodically (for example, 1–2 times per quarter) and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country. #LI-REMOTE #LI-REX At Pinterest we believe the workplace should be equitable, inclusive, and inspiring for every employee.
