Job Description Opportunity at a Glance Collaborating with academic partners, faculty, and staff, the BSN Program Mentor provides proactive, student-centered support throughout the entirety of the BSN program. This role focuses on delivering Chamberlain Care by engaging students early and consistently, offering academic coaching, NCLEX-focused readiness strategies, and personalized reinforcement to support persistence, progression, and success. Working with students individually and in small groups, the BSN Program Mentor assesses learning styles, identifies strengths, and uncovers opportunities for academic growth. The mentor develops and implements individualized academic and NCLEX readiness plans while maintaining ongoing, proactive outreach to students across all stages of the program. At times, the mentor may also assume faculty responsibilities in virtual lab settings to support skill development and remediation. Responsibilities - Provide proactive outreach and sustained mentoring to students throughout the BSN program, delivering Chamberlain Care that promotes engagement, confidence, and academic success. - Promote student success through coaching, encouragement, and accountability that prepares students for professional practice and lifelong learning. - Create and implement customized, student-centered support approaches by assessing individual needs, learning styles, and academic challenges to deliver targeted guidance, encouragement, and resources that promote persistence and success. - Build strong, supportive relationships with students to motivate, encourage, and empower them to successfully progress through the BSN program while experiencing Chamberlain Care. - Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of competencies tested by the NCLEX-RN, as well as current nursing practice, to provide effective academic and exam-readiness support. - Assist in the creation and execution of individualized Next Generation NCLEX study plans, academic support activities, and workshops. - Maintain consistent communication, collaboration, and documentation of student progress toward course, program, and learning outcomes in partnership with academic leadership. - Demonstrate service excellence through professionalism, empathy, effective communication, and a student-first mindset aligned with Chamberlain Care principles. - Provide advising, mentoring, tutoring, and guidance to help students successfully navigate the online learning environment. - Maintain virtual availability aligned with BSN Online student needs, including evenings and/or weekends as required. - Coordinate and facilitate virtual lab experiences to ensure students meet or exceed course objectives; serve as faculty in virtual lab settings as needed. - Provide individualized oversight and support for practice and remediation of technical nursing skills in alignment with course requirements. - Actively participate in and manage outreach to at-risk students (including referrals, reinstatements, and repeaters), contributing to retention strategies and reporting outcomes and metrics to leadership. - Maintain appropriate credentials to teach and assess learning in the virtual classroom environment. - Deliver limited instruction (lecture, lab, clinical, or simulation) each session, not to exceed 50% of FTE. - Evaluates skills validations (assessing competency). - Performs other duties as assigned - Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications - Master’s Degree in Nursing required. - Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical practice setting required. - Minimum of 2+ years of experience in an academic environment supporting classroom instruction or in a specialized tutoring/support role required. - 1+ year of experience in online teaching, tutoring, or coaching within a prelicensure nursing program preferred. - Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively via telephone, computer, and virtual (in‑person) platforms. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent attention to detail with strong proofreading skills. - Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. - Demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Strong team player with a willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, and exchange ideas. - Maintenance of a current, unencumbered Illinois RN license required. - Maintenance of a current, unencumbered compact RN license required. - BLS CPR certification required. - Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification preferred. Additional Information In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $73,521.00 and $96,736.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
