We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst who operates with high ownership, precision, and a builder mindset. This role is not just about running payroll, it’s about helping design and scale payroll operations in a fast-growing, globally distributed company where not everything is fully defined yet. What You'll Be Doing - Own and execute multi-state U.S. payroll with a high bar for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness. - Maintain data integrity across payroll systems, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and deductions. - Partner with third-party providers to support international payroll, proactively identifying and resolving issues. - Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries for monthly close in partnership with Accounting. - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, including quarterly and annual filings. - Serve as a trusted and responsive point of contact for employee payroll questions, delivering clear and professional support. - Own W-2 preparation and year-end reconciliation. - Identify gaps in payroll processes and proactively design improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. - Prepare payroll-related documentation to support internal and external audits. - Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Equity Administration, and Legal on payroll-adjacent matters. - Continuously improve payroll workflows and systems to reduce manual work and support company growth. What You Bring - 3–5 years of payroll experience with demonstrated ownership of multi-state U.S. payroll. - Experience operating in a high-growth technology or SaaS company where priorities evolve quickly. - Strong sense of ownership - you take responsibility for outcomes and proactively drive work forward. - Experience with international payroll coordination is a meaningful plus. - Experience with payroll platforms such as Workday, Deel, or similar systems. - High level of accuracy and attention to detail - you consistently catch issues before they become problems. - You raise issues early and propose solutions, not just problems. - High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information. - Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively across teams. The typical starting salary for this role in the US is $120,000—$155,000 USD The typical starting salary for this role in US Premium Markets is $135,000—$170,000 USD Compensation For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed. These salary ranges reflect what we reasonably and in good faith believe to be the minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. Role Description The SAP Payroll/SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll Consultant at Syntax is a critical role responsible for leading and implementing EC Payroll solutions.
