Summary We are seeking an accomplished Senior Accountant with experience in public company accounting and a strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape in the defense and aerospace sector. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, the integrity of internal controls, and compliance with government accounting requirements (e.g., FAR/DFARS). In this individual contributor role, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for tasks including general ledger accounting, payroll accounting, SOX compliance, supporting SEC reporting and government accounting compliance, as well as driving process improvements in a fast paced, highly regulated environment. This role requires solid technical accounting knowledge and excellent organizational skills. Position Responsibilities - Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities - Support payroll accounting, including journal entries and related reconciliations - Supports preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracy - Actively participates in monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process - Supports internal and external auditors' requests and inquiries - Performs ad- hoc analysis as needed using various reports and statements - Works cross-functionally with other departments to resolve discrepancies in account balances - Performs necessary functions to ensure compliance with SOX and Internal Controls over relevant processes - Participates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports - Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy - Other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience) - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of experience and education - 5 - 10 years of related accounting/finance work experience - Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP system and strong Excel skills. - Experience supporting government contracting and knowledge of FAR/CAS is a plus. Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies - Master's degree or Certified Public Account (CPA) with public accounting experience is preferred - Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative - Demonstrates competency in working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or date requires an evaluation of intangibles. Clearance Level No Clearance The salary range for this role is: $88,000 - $124,740 AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
