Job Requirements

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school (foreign law degree may suffice)
  • Active license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Class action and/or mass tort experience a plus
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer service approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word products as well as Smart sheets is preferred.

Role Description A growing and highly collaborative legal practice is seeking a Corporate Counsel with strong venture capital and emerging companies experience to join its corporate legal team. The firm partners with innovative, high-growth startups and emerging companies, serving as trusted legal advisors across all stages of the business lifecycle. Attorneys in this role operate in an outside general counsel capacity, working directly with founders and leadership teams to provide strategic legal guidance while supporting company growth. This role offers an entrepreneurial and client-facing environment, where attorneys take ownership of matters, lead sophisticated transactions, and collaborate closely with clients as strategic partners. The position is designed to provide strong work/life balance, with an expected average of 100–130 billable hours per month, significantly lower than traditional law firm expectations. Qualifications - 6–7+ years of corporate law experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting. - Strong venture capital financing experience (required), including leading equity financings from term sheet through closing. - Experience advising startups, founders, and emerging companies. - Experience handling M&A transactions and debt financings. - Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build trusted relationships. - Excellent academic credentials. - Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. - Entrepreneurial mindset and practical problem-solving approach. - Active bar membership in the state of residence or willingness to work onsite in the state where licensed.
