Lumen Technologies

Lumen is the trusted network for AI. We’re transforming how businesses connect, secure, and scale in an AI-driven world. By connecting people, data, and applications quickly, securely, and effortlessly, we help organizations move faster and unlock what’s next. At Lumen, people power progress. Our culture is built on teamwork, trust, and transparency, giving you the flexibility, support, and opportunity to make a lasting impact. We’re looking for top-tier talent ready to take on the challenge. Join us in building the future. The Role Lumen is seeking a senior technical leader to run the Solutions Architecture function within Partner Solutions and Activation, working in close partnership with the Sr. Director of Lumen Validated Designs to operationalize and execute the Lumen Validated Design (LVD) strategy. This role is accountable for how LVDs are technically executed—turning validation intent, quality standards, and business & lifecycle requirements defined by Lumen Validated Designs into architect grade, repeatable technical deliverables. The Sr. Director of Solutions Architecture ensures that reference architectures, validation artifacts, demos, and proof-of-value assets are delivered with rigor, consistency, and speed. The role plays a critical part in unlocking early customer adoption (1–10 pilots) and shares accountability for the Lumen Experience Center (LEC), ensuring demo environments accurately reflect what has been validated and what is ready for customer engagement and demand generation. Reporting to the VP | Validated Solutions & Partner Strategy, this role operates as the primary execution partner to the Sr. Director of Lumen Validated Designs and collaborates closely with Product, Connected Ecosystem, Engineering, GTM, Operations, and Marketing. Location This is a remote opportunity open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S. The Main Responsibilities - Serve as the execution counterpart to the Sr. Director of Lumen Validated Designs, translating use cases, customer requirements, validation direction, quality bars, and lifecycle requirements into delivered technical outcomes. - Ensure tight alignment between validation intent (what must be proven”) and technical execution (“how it is proven and delivered”) across the LVD portfolio. - Act as a trusted technical advisor on feasibility, sequencing, and execution trade‑offs. - Define and maintain technical architecture standards, patterns, and execution guidelines in support of Lumen Validated Designs. - Ensure consistency and repeatability across reference architectures, integration models, documentation depth, and validation artifacts. - Establish and enforce technical quality bars aligned to LVD stage gate expectations. - Lead the technical execution of LVD deliverables, including reference architectures, design guides, validation plans, test results, and deployment guidance. - Partner with Solution Architects to ensure designs are practical, deployable, and suitable for real-world customer environments. - Ensure validation work aligns to defined stages (internal, copartner, and customer ready) without overengineering or premature productization. - Work collaboratively with the Sr. Director of Lumen Validated Designs, Solution Architects, Product, and Engineering teams to maintain and upgrade the LVD Validation Environments and Labs based on business requirements and product improvements, including business cases and approval cycles. Responsibilities Continued - Own the technical strategy for demos and proof-of-value assets used in early customer engagements. - Ensure demo and POV environments reflect validated designs and Lumen product strategy and clearly communicate scope, constraints, and readiness. - Support early pilots with architect-grade assets that reduce deployment risk and accelerate learning. - Co-own the technical integrity and readiness of LVD and product demos showcased in the Lumen Experience Center. - Ensure LEC assets remain aligned with validated architectures and Lumen products and are kept current as designs and products evolve. - Collaborate with Product, Connected Ecosystem, and GTM teams to ensure technical outputs support adoption, enablement, and scale. - Work with Operations to ensure operational readiness considerations are incorporated early in the validation lifecycle. - Enable execution velocity by improving templates, tooling, and delivery processes across the architecture team. - Drive feedback loops from validation efforts, demos, and early customer deployments back into architecture standards and execution practices. - Continuously improve how LVD technical deliverables are built, validated, and reused. What We Look For in a Candidate - 12+ years of experience in technical architecture, solution engineering, platform engineering, or validation focused delivery roles. - Proven ability to collaborate with diverse roles and teams to achieve clarity in solution design. - Proven ability to lead execution in partnership with a strategy or portfolio owner, balancing rigor with speed. - Strong experience producing architect grade technical documentation and validation artifacts. - Demonstrated success supporting demos, proof-of-value engagements, and early customer pilots. - Ability to influence and align across Product, Engineering, GTM, and partner organizations. - Comfort operating in ambiguity while building structure, standards, and repeatable execution models.
