Key Responsibilities: - Administer, operate, and support virtual machine infrastructure across VMware vSphere and Microsoft Azure environments - Provision, configure, and decommission VMs in alignment with organizational standards and capacity plans - Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for automated configuration management, patching, and compliance enforcement - Monitor VM health, performance, and resource utilization; identify and resolve infrastructure incidents in a timely manner - Collaborate with platform engineering and security teams to implement hardening standards and ensure infrastructure-as-code best practices - Participate in on-call operational support for VM-related incidents and service requests (e.g., patch management, certificate rotation) - Maintain accurate documentation for VM runbooks, configurations, and operational procedures - Contribute to lifecycle management activities including OS patching, image management, and template standardization - Support capacity planning efforts by tracking utilization trends and making recommendations for rightsizing or scaling - Assist in evaluating new tooling and technologies to improve automation, observability, and operational efficiency Required Experience: - 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing virtual machine infrastructure in enterprise environments - Proficiency with VMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter, and VM lifecycle management - Demonstrated experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation - Solid understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, subnets, DNS, load balancing) as they relate to VM connectivity - Experience with Linux and Windows Server administration in a virtualized environment - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code principles and practices - Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across computer, storage, and network layers - Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent tasks with minimal supervision - Must reside within the United States - Requires additional fingerprint/background clearance, and ongoing recertification every 3 years. Job Title: Principal Infrastructure Software Engineer Location: Remote, with availability for periodic in-person meetings or team gatherings Reports To: Engineering Operations Manager PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Design, build, and maintain our build and deployment systems across a multi-repo, multi-language codebase. - Add efficiency, robustness and security to our release processes by standing up automated tools or processes as necessary. - Integrate security and compliance workflows, including tools like Grype and SBOM generation for ATO/IATT processes. - Support container and artifact packaging, release automation, and reproducible builds across OS and CPU architectures. This includes version control and tagging schemas to work with different build types (nightly, dev, release) and developer workflows. - Collaborate with software, ML and field engineers to ensure fast, reliable, and developer-friendly tooling. - Maintain our Makefile and Docker Bake build system while seeking out and identifying opportunities for improvement. - Document tooling, pipelines, and processes clearly and maintainably. - Build and test automation for both cloud-based development workflows and air-gapped production deployment workflows.
