Own sales tax processes. - Systems & process improvement : Identify and implement improvements across our accounting stack (NetSuite, Zip, Navan) to increase accuracy and efficiency. - Cross-functional partnership : Partner with RevOps, Sales, and Customer Support to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and operational issues are resolved quickly. What You Bring - 5–8+ years of accounting experience, preferably in high-growth SaaS or technology companies. - Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition. - Deep experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. - Experience with NetSuite administration. Familiarity with Zip and Navan a plus. - Comfort working across the full accounting stack — from operational accounting to financial reporting. - A hands-on mindset — willing to dive into any accounting task needed to keep operations running smoothly. - Experience managing or mentoring junior accounting staff. - Nice to have: experience with Numeric The base salary range for this role is $160,000 - 185,000/year. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and location, and may vary from the amount above. #LI-Remote About Descript Descript is building a simple, intuitive, fully-powered editing tool for video and audio — an editing tool built for the age of AI. Descript is the special company that's in possession of both product market fit and the raw materials (passionate user community, great product, large market) for growth, but is still early enough that each new employee has a measurable influence on the direction of the company. Benefits include a generous healthcare package, 401k matching program, catered lunches, and flexible vacation time. Our headquarters are located in the Mission District of San Francisco, CA. We're hiring for a mix of remote roles and hybrid roles. For those who are remote, we have a handful of opportunities throughout the year for in person collaboration.
