OUAI
OUAI is looking for a highly motivated, innovative & creative temporary backfill for our Lead Copywriter to support our Creative & broader Marketing team during a maternity leave. You will be leading OUAI’s brand voice across all copy touchpoints. As Lead Copywriter, you will be responsible for bringing the OUAI brand and its products to life via 360 storytelling. Working across various mediums, and serving a multitude of channels, you will ensure a clear copy narrative across all touchpoints with a consistent brand voice. Reporting into the Creative Director, this person will play a critical role in building OUAI’s product & global marketing storytelling. What You’ll Do: - Serve as the lead in stewarding & executing OUAI’s global brand voice, including all campaign copy development - Serve as the in-house copy expert in developing all copy touch-points for the brand globally inclusive of both product-focused copy, as well as marketing & brand copy - Core touchpoints include: - Product copy: All PDP & retailer copy, PD romance copy, short-form product marketing copy, new product launch copy & more - Brand/Marketing copy: All campaign copy, PR mailers & notecards, OOH, print collateral, In-store VM & eventing copy, some organic social copy - Digital marketing: All Email/SMS, paid social, Amazon, DTC site - Adhere to our brand book & serve as a gatekeeper for the brand’s voice, ensuring that all external outputs meet our brand guidelines and clearly convey our DNA - Align cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Digital, Sales) on messaging for campaigns and launches, providing cohesive copy docs and fleshed out guardrails - Develop and manage the global master copy files - Lead all copy asset management - ensuring all materials are kept up-to-date, and that information is disseminated to the organization & external partners as needed - Create compelling presentations for internal stakeholders, retailer meetings, etc. to convey storytelling & brand voice - Maintain OUAI’s brand voice at retail; bringing the story of our brand and products to life in a way that’s optimal for retailers’ environments, while being at the forefront of the landscape with active research and analysis - Closely partner with digital team to develop copy across a multitude of Digital touchpoints, building copy for campaigns that cohesively amplify our messages and drive conversion
Job Requirements
- What You’ll Bring:
- Experience writing in consumer goods, beauty, or related industry with proven work examples
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with major in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or equivalent a plus
- 8+ Years of experience preferred
- Self-starter, clear communicator, a creative writer and a grammar-lover. Passionate about storytelling and see the value in a consistent and cohesive brand voice.
- Able to think big picture but also execute & hone in on the finer details
- Experience in crafting the language for both product (packaging, product descriptions) and brand marketing x-channels
- Experience in writing across a multitude of marketing platforms with a solid understanding of the landscape
- Understanding of how to translate business priorities into highly engaging consumer-facing messaging
- Experience in successfully concepting and managing projects from start to finish
- Collaborative team-player who brings an optimistic outlook to the team
- Open to feedback & solution-oriented
- Able to quickly iterate on ideas
- Strategic, innovative & creative thinker willing to push the envelope and bring fresh, innovative ideas to life
- Familiar with project management tools such as Asana
- Able to work within Slack, Figma

• Leading the writing for client internal communication projects - shaping narratives, interviewing stakeholders, and turning complex info into engaging content. • Developing eLearning scripts for clients and internal projects • Writing scripts for animated and how-to videos for clients and internal projects • Documenting our standard operating procedures as we prepare to scale the team • Creating marketing content to help educate our industry on our mission and vision • Storytelling for client internal communication projects • Attending client briefings and creative meetings (occasionally outside standard NZ working hours) • Reviewing client material and identifying opportunities to share stories and improve clarity • Preparing interview questions and turning stakeholder input into engaging, well-structured articles • Supporting written content with graphics and visual elements using Canva (and similar tools)
