Role Description We are looking for an Interventional Radiology (IR) Section Chief to oversee our expanding IR service line. This is a hybrid clinical and leadership role designed for an experienced, entrepreneurial interventional radiologist who enjoys building and scaling programs, bringing structure and organization to the practice, and supporting a geographically distributed IR practitioners. The IR Section Chief will play a central role in ensuring the success, consistency, and quality of Imagen’s growing IR services while remaining meaningfully engaged in clinical work. - Serve as the primary leader for the IR physician group, driving strategic recruitment, clinical mentorship, and team engagement to foster a culture of excellence as the practice scales nationally. - Provide on-site procedural coverage requiring regular travel to support clinical operations and program growth. - Own IR-specific quality standards, procedural protocols, and best practices across the practice. - Act as the clinical subject-matter expert on IR services during prospective client meetings. - Balance clinical and leadership responsibilities, dedicating sufficient time to the clinical practice and administrative/section leadership activities. With anticipated rapid program expansion, the remaining time will be allocated to on-site activities, including performing procedures, interacting with clinicians, medical leadership, and senior management. Qualifications - MD or DO, eligible to practice medicine in the U.S. - ABR or AOBR board-certified radiologist. - 5+ years post-training clinical experience in Interventional radiology. - ACR CAQ in Interventional Radiology. - Administrative experience at the practice or hospital level. - Unrestricted license in at least one U.S. state and the ability to obtain additional state licenses. How you’ll make an impact in this role Provide health care services regarding admissions, case management, discharge planning and utilization review. - Review admissions and service requests within assigned unit for prospective, concurrent and retrospective medical necessity and/or compliance with reimbursement policy criteria. Provide case management and/or consultation for complex cases. - Assist departmental staff with issues related to coding, medical records/documentation, precertification, reimbursement and claim denials/appeals. - Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with healthcare team members. - May prepare statistical analysis and utilization review reports as necessary. - Oversee and coordinate compliance to federally mandated and third party payer utilization management rules and regulations.
