• Conducts research, design, and development activities with the goal of developing new or improved products, processes, or services. • Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. • Applies research theories when conducting experiments and research activities. • Conducts market research, tracks projects, and evaluates trade space. • Summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies.
Job Requirements
- Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience
- Engineering degree required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must have knowledge of product innovation, research and development, and project scoping.
- Experience in ballistics analysis of Solid Rocket Motors is preferred.

Role Description Looking for an energized transmission planning study engineer to join our grid solutions team as we strengthen reliability, support renewable integration, and advance grid modernization for our clients. A bachelor’s degree is required, and in support of all aspects of transmission studies on power flow, voltage stability, transient stability, and other power system analyses. - Performing power system analysis and network modeling to meet client specifications in reliability, regulation, and quality requirements. - Conducting studies in areas such as generator connections, voltage stability, arc-flash energy, insulation coordination, and power station design. - Preparing detailed technical reports and contributing to technical work products. - Collaborating with a global team to execute studies and deliver high-quality solutions. - Managing client relationships and expectations, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery. - Contributing to business development activities and identifying new client opportunities. - Will perform power system analysis for transmission system, including power flow, voltage stability, transient stability and short circuit analyses. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. - Preferred master’s degree in Power Systems Engineering. - Some experience in stability study using PSS/E, congestion analysis/cost modeling studies or cluster feasibility studies across various ISOs (MISO, CAISO, PJM, SPP or other ISOs). - Knowledge in electric power system, synchronous generator, motor, power electronic inverters, wind turbines and solar. - Experience with transmission studies on power flow, voltage stability, and other power system analyses. - Proficient with the PSS®E software package, including all modules for load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis. - Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable. - Background in static and dynamic modelling of power systems components in PSS/E or DSA tools, including HVDC, VSC, Static Var Compensators, STATCOM and Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors. - PSS/E model development and IPLAN and/or Python programming is an asset. - Knowledge of reliability and interconnection of the transmission system. - Eager to learn ISO cluster interconnection process and transmission stability analysis. - Knowledge of substation layout and protection and control. - Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. This early talent career program will help you learn about our business operations and specifically Viega’s Engineering Services providing design support and piping layout of domestic water, hydronic distribution, natural gas/propane and other various piping systems across commercial, industrial, marine, and residential sectors. - Work in your assigned area of expertise within the Engineering Services team and experience first-hand the responsibilities tied to the function. - Assist in the design of plumbing and mechanical systems and prepare material take-offs. - Assist in developing and maintaining Revit models, templates and families used both internally and externally for the creation of piping models. - Assist in the management of all Viega LLC digital content related to 2D and 3D models, material estimation, and pricing services. - Assist in the review of project specifications and preparation of drawings/schematics to be used in construction of various mechanical piping systems utilizing but not limited to Viega press systems. - Assist and support the team with administrative duties. - Actively participate in mentor and team activities. - Attend weekly team and department meetings. - Apply academic knowledge to real life scenarios. - Perform additional duties as needed. - This is a remote position with the potential to participate out in the field for a 2 to 3-week stint with our field Engineering Specifications team to gain additional exposure to how engineering services and the field sales team overlap. - Consulting meetings with engineering firms. - On site product training with installing contractors. - Sales engagement activities with wholesalers & distributors.
