Meet the team: We are hiring for a remote based Sr SW Engineer that will be located in one of our HUB regions in: CA, Pacific NW, Texas or Chicago. In this role, you will be a key contributor within Dexcom’s System and Solution Organization, building the next generation of cloud‑native, data‑driven, and AI‑augmented platform capabilities.You will work closely with AI Platform Engineers to deliver scalable backend services, APIs, and the infrastructure powering Dexcom’s rapidly growing AI features. Our team develops at high velocity using modern AI‑assisted development tools while maintaining the reliability and regulatory discipline required for medical‑grade systems (ISO/FDA). If you enjoy solving complex problems, iterating quickly, and leveraging cutting‑edge engineering practices, you will thrive here. Where you come in: - You design, build, and maintain cloud‑based backend systems—including APIs, event‑driven services, and data pipelines—using AI‑assisted development workflows to increase speed and quality. - You work across the full software lifecycle: architecture, design, implementation, automated testing, performance tuning, documentation, and verification. - You develop and integrate services with Firestore, Cloud SQL, and other GCP‑native components. - You improve engineering processes through automation, developer‑efficiency enhancements, monitoring/observability improvements, and cost‑optimization initiatives. - You participate in code reviews and champion best practices in API design, security, testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture. - You learn and maintain existing internal applications, modernizing and refactoring where appropriate. - You diagnose and resolve issues alongside QA and SRE teams across lower environments and production. - You use GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA to manage development and releases. - You participate in on‑call rotations as required. What makes you successful: - You have strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, and shell scripting. - You have experience building distributed, cloud‑native backend services on GCP. - You have hands‑on experience with Pub/Sub and Kafka for messaging and streaming. - You are proficient with Firestore and Cloud SQL for data persistence and querying. - You have experience building and deploying services using Docker and container‑based environments. - You have familiarity with automated testing frameworks and modern CI/CD pipelines. - You have the demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly—especially AI‑assisted development tools. - You have the ability to thrive in a fast‑moving engineering environment with shifting priorities and multiple simultaneous projects.
