Role Description As a Senior Director, you will oversee the creative vision and execution of sponsored, original, non-fiction videos under Big Think Creative Studio. You will direct content for Bigthink.com, as well as white-label partner content. Our videos employ a mix of original footage, on-camera hosting, voice-over, motion graphics, and music to make the story come to life. - Bring fresh ideas and innovative storytelling methods to our video projects - Conduct pre-interviews during development - Write story treatments and develop mood boards and style decks - Direct subjects and talent during production - Build trust and understanding with story subjects - Direct editors and motion designers during post-production - Manage multiple ongoing video projects - Analyze performance data and use it to inform creative decisions - Build and manage relationships across the team - both internal and external - Collaborate with the Publishing team to integrate best practices and insights into future work - Anticipate partner feedback and goals, and adjust strategy accordingly - Assess and respond to difficult partner feedback with a positive, solution-focused mindset Qualifications - 5+ years of hands-on directing of non-fiction videos, documentaries and interviews - Experience in both editorial and commercial roles is preferred - Keen understanding of various social platforms and knowledge of what content works best on each - Ability to craft a rough idea into engaging, high-performing content - Strong attention to detail - Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - Experience directing celebrity and VIP talent - Experience using AI image and video-generating tools - Willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in where needed - Ability to be passionate about the work without being precious - Openness to feedback and challenge - Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed for special event programming - Ability to travel 25% of the time, often with short notice Requirements - A talented, senior-level director who can deliver compelling, effective videos, including long-form field documentaries, in-depth interviews and social shorts optimized for various platforms Benefits - Salary range: $125,000 - $135,000
