Role Description Under limited supervision, performs moderate to complex compliance research and regulatory analysis in order to monitor regulations, assess risk, and mitigate concern in support of business operations according to defined project plans. The majority of the work will involve the Small Commercial line of business. The work itself includes, but is not limited to: - Rating, tiering, underwriting, forms, processes, and customer communications support This position is in Liberty Mutual's Global Legal and Compliance Department. Typical starting salary is $97,000-$120,000 and depends on geographical location and experience. This position may have in-office requirement. Preferred locations are Boston, MA and Seattle, WA. Responsibilities: - Independently analyzes company`s regulatory compliance, filing, and forms postures and leads the development of control recommendations. - Consults with attorneys, product management, underwriting, distribution, and claims management to keep field abreast of changes. - Coordinate multiple Product Compliance projects to ensure state and countrywide compliance. - Provide clear measures of success and develop recommendations to address problems/issues. - Lead efforts to ensure compliance with underwriting, filing, forms, and regulatory or statutory changes in assigned states. - Drive revisions as needed, including process changes, underwriting updates, revising forms, filing the revisions, and/or systems changes. - Own communication of changes to impacted stakeholder groups including issuing organizational bulletins, and completion of post implementation cross checks. - Responsible for answering certain forms, rules, for developing proposals and research to attorneys. - Provide business impacts and detailed recommendations to improve and streamline compliance controls. - Independently performs moderate to complex internal compliance audits and risk assessments, including documentation, process flows, and testing. - Generate reporting to track changes and results. - Drive development of recommendations to help improve the compliance and efficiency of the business. - Working with attorneys and researches complaints from Departments of Insurance, Regulatory Agencies, customers and other interested parties. - Prepares responses to state insurance inquiries. - Works with manager, attorneys, co-workers and customers to identify and execute process improvement opportunities. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a quantitative subject (example: Mathematics, Finance, Economics) or Legal/Political Science/Insurance and experience with quantitative analysis preferred. - Small commercial experience is highly preferred. - 3 to 5 years related work experience preferred. - Knowledge of insurance principles and concepts required. - Advanced analytical/problem solving and research skills. - Effective communication skills for writing reports/proposals and making presentations. - Ability to work independently and lead others during projects is a must. Risk & Compliance Oversight - Advise on compliance standards to reduce regulatory risk. - Partner with a variety of Aetna business areas and other internal teams including Legal to coordinate market conduct exams. - Develop and maintain risk assessments, auditing, and monitoring processes. - Guide cross‑functional partners in responding to regulatory requests. - Communicate compliance expectations and drive ethical decision-making across the organization. Required Qualifications - 10+ years in Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, or Market Conduct Exam roles including experience with Health Care Benefits. - Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. - Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and projects. - Ability to influence decisions across all organizational levels. - Skilled at escalating risks appropriately. Preferred Qualifications - Experience in auditing or market conduct exams within healthcare, managed care, or PBM. - Experience as a state market conduct examiner. - Background in project management and developing audit or corrective action plans. - Experience working directly with regulators or auditors. - Law degree (JD). Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $100,000.00 - $231,540.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
