About your team and position: - The Finance team is a tight-knit group that includes our CFO, Senior Accounting Manager, and a strong external team of accounting professionals working together with a shared mindset of development and ownership. Our team is responsible for the financial foundation of the business - owning accurate month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, revenue and COGS, internal controls, and providing leadership with clear, reliable insights to run the company. We enable thoughtful decision-making, protect the business's financial health, and directly support Sundays’ growth and long-term success. - We are seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to support a rapidly growing business. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in the details, taking ownership of core accounting processes, and helping build scalable systems in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and timely close and reporting. - This position reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and is a highly cross-functional role that will require close collaboration with internal and external teams. Your day-to-day: - Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, revenue, COGS, inventory adjustments, and other routine transactions - Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies - Support the month-end and year-end close to ensure timely, accurate financial results - Assist with revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and subscription activity as applicable - Maintain schedules for fixed assets, depreciation, and prepaid expenses - Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies and controls - Support automation and system integrations between ERP, order management, WMS, and payment platforms - Contribute to process documentation, continuous improvement, and scaling of accounting operations as the business grows - Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed We'd love to hear from you if you have: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred - 3–6+ years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience, preferably in eCommerce, retail, or consumer products - Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles - Experience with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold in a product-based business - Proficiency in Excel (lookups, pivots, large data sets) - Experience using ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or similar - Exposure to eCommerce platforms and payment processors is strongly preferred - Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment - Self-starter mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability - Clear written and verbal communication skills Why Join Us? - Unlimited PTO – we trust you to take the time you need. - Equity program – a chance to own part of the company! - 401k plan with employer match – invest in your future. - Annual work-from-home stipend – set up your workspace for success. - Competitive Medical, Dental, Vision plans – company covers 80%. - Sundays subscription for your pup! – because we care about your furry friends. - Parental leave & PAWrental leave – support for growing families, both human and pet. - Discounted pet insurance – keep your pets happy and healthy. **RECRUITING SCAM ALERT** We’ve been made aware of scammers impersonating Sundays for Dogs and inviting candidates to interview via Microsoft Teams.
