Description Sprout Social is looking to hire a Lead International Accountant for the Finance team. Why join Sprout’s Finance team? What you’ll do Sprout Social’s Finance team isn’t your typical month-end close type of department. We’re building out financial systems to support every business production, so our Lead Accountant gets a granular view and understanding of how a business scales from the ground up. Although we might live in spreadsheets and provide financial information to the business, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The knowledge to gain is vast, as is the potential of our organization to continue growing. Doing our jobs effectively means we approach each interaction with confidence, each process with diligence, and our customers with care. - You will own the overall international accounting processes, including compliance. This includes providing advanced expertise and ensuring the accurate and timely completion of financial statements for our 7 international subsidiaries - You will work closely with tax, payroll, legal, and other accounting teams to ensure we meet all of our deadlines and obligations. You will function as a project manager in cases when there is a need for these various teams to collaborate on compliance deliverables. - You will oversee five international audits from beginning to end, working in conjunction with our third-party partners - You will own the relationship with our third party services providers who assist with local filings and compliance. - You will drive process improvements to ensure we are operating efficiently and create new processes to accommodate our always-changing and quickly growing business. - You will review the work of other team members and provide coaching and feedback as needed - You will be the go-to person for international accounting and tangent processes. What you’ll bring Since this role is about raising the bar, we’re looking for someone with experience in Finance/Accounting within a high-growth technical company (tools, best practices (US GAAP), relevant laws and regulations, etc.) and a strategic lens (connecting day-to-day work (account reconciliations, journal entries, etc.) with bigger-picture organizational objectives. The businesses we serve rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships through social media. The minimum qualifications for this role include: - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent business degree - 6+ years of experience in Accounting or Audit, including 2+ years of experience in International accounting - Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment Preferred qualifications for this role include: - Experience managing relationships and compliance with a third-party accounting-service provider - Hands-on experience with accounting tools like NetSuite, Excel How you’ll grow Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including: - Experience Sprout’s in-depth onboarding, covering everything from our company mission and values, hearing directly from executives and founders, to deep training on our products and the value that Sprout delivers to our customers - Make a plan with your manager to set initial priorities, align on expectations for your role, plant goalposts for your career, and learn about Sprout’s approach to scaling key business operations to support a high-growth NASDAQ publicly traded company Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by: - Be proficient in using Sprout’s accounting system (NetSuite), record journal entries, record intercompany transactions, retrieve data needed to review transactions and financial reporting - Have a solid understanding of the activity that exists in Sprout’s foreign subsidiaries - Manage all communication with third party services providers - Build connections with members from other teams, including tax, legal, and payroll - Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through: - Maintain and improve SOX compliance for accounting functions, including participating in in SOX documentation and testing - Oversee international audit processes - Have your first performance conversation with your manager, where you’ll discuss your accomplishments in your role and work together to build goals for your professional growth Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by: - Continuously evaluate and strengthen internal processes and relationships as they relate to international accounting - Surprise us! Individual base pay is based on various factors, including whether you’re located in Zone 1 or Zone 2, as well as relevant experience and skills. In the United States, we have two geographic pay zones. For this role, the expected base pay ranges for new hires are: - Zone 1 (New York, California, Washington): $109,100 - $150,040 USD annually - Zone 2 (All other US states): $99,200 - $136,400 USD annually The listed ranges represent earning potential in this position. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent, and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed. Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit).
