Job Description

Field Service Technician

SAIC

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections at Ports of Entry on deployed equipment, including License Plate Reader (LPR) equipment, RFID, network/power, signage, and communication devices • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime • Install new equipment and systems according to SAIC specifications and SOPs • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancements • Adhere to CBP and SAIC IT security, physical security, operations security, OSHA, and local safety requirements • Document equipment maintenance activities, schedules, repair histories, and inventory levels • Respond to emergency repair requests and provide on-call support as needed during Monday-Friday business hours • Interact professionally with CBP personnel, Border Patrol, vendors, and the traveling public • Travel to US Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in the Tucson region and potentially other US border locations for installations and ticket resolutions

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience required; an additional 4 years of experience may substitute for the degree
  • 6 years of Field Service Technician or Equipment Installation Technician experience highly preferred
  • Must currently reside in the Tucson area
  • Ability to drive daily to job sites up to 150 miles away
  • Strong technical skills troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic and mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to write reports
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and computer software for equipment maintenance and repair
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate within a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules
  • Understanding of basic low-voltage electrical wiring principles
  • Technical proficiency with CAT 6 signal cabling, including testing and termination
  • May travel to other US border locations for up to two weeks
  • US citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust before starting
  • CBP Background Investigation requires a drug screen before starting
  • Multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting strongly desired
  • Active DHS Public Trust highly desired
