• Work closely with subject matter experts to deeply understand the instructional needs of multilingual learners. • Translate complex, technical information into clear, accessible materials for practitioners, partners, and other non-technical audiences. • Engage with key stakeholders (e.g., school system leaders, EdReports’ educator reviewers, and partner organizations focused on technical assistance) to gather insights and support understanding of EdReports’ evolving MLL-related reviews and other developing products. • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to understand multilingual learner needs and research findings related to early literacy, early mathematics (K-5), and pre-kindergarten (pre-K) instructional materials, and translate this learning into clear, audience-appropriate communications. • Develop and draft high-quality written materials (e.g., briefs, blogs, FAQs, presentations, talking points, web content) that translate research, pilot findings, and EdReports’ review methodologies for practitioners, partners, and the broader field. • Support the field-facing rollout and communications of strengthened MLL review components, including foundational skills pilots, early math reviews, and pre-K materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with EdReports’ voice and values. • Partner with cross-functional colleagues to understand the needs and experiences of key stakeholders (e.g., school system leaders, educator reviewers, partner organizations) and synthesize insights to inform communications and related materials. • Support planning and facilitation of partner engagement activities (e.g., listening sessions, briefings, webinars, or convenings) in collaboration with cross-functional colleagues. • Contribute to organizational communications efforts aligned to EdReports’ strategic plan, including thought leadership, report usability, and field-facing messaging that strengthens EdReports’ influence and trust. • Partner with the Academic Office to support clear, consistent communications related to publisher engagement, as needed. • Manage assigned communications workstreams and deliverables, tracking progress, deadlines, and dependencies. • Ensure all work reflects EdReports’ commitment to quality, transparency, equity, and accessibility. • Other relevant duties as assigned to support the organization's strategic goals, with the expectation that all EdReports employees remain flexible and adaptable to evolving responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • Passion for EdReports’ mission and vision, our core values, and our commitment to Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity;
  • 4-7 years of relevant professional experience in strategic communications, partnerships, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with PK-12 education systems, instructional materials, curriculum adoption, or related policy contexts.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for varied stakeholders and to explain complex ideas clearly and accessibly.
  • Experience aligning communications to strategic priorities, brand voice, or organizational messaging frameworks.

  • Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort adapting to evolving priorities in the context of iterative, cross-functional pilot work.

Background Office/Unit/Project Description The Joint SDG Fund supports countries as they accelerate their progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It operates through joint programmes (JPs) that provide the mechanism for transformative solutions implemented by governments and national stakeholders and supported by the UN Country Team led by Resident Coordinators (RCs). Strategic direction for the Fund is provided by the Strategic Advisory Group chaired by the Deputy Secretary-General as the chair of UN Sustainable Development Group. The Fund is managed by the Operational Steering Committee, comprised of representatives of UN entities, and with the support from the Secretariat of the Fund. The UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) hosts the Fund and provides for the alignment with the broader UN Development System reforms. The Administrative Agent of the Fund, in charge of financial management, is the Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTF-O). Official documents (e.g. Terms of Reference and Operational Guidance) of the Fund and information on funding can be found on the Gateway portal. To advance the dual mandate of supercharging the UN Development System reform to be fit for purpose and, in turn, supporting the acceleration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Fund incentivizes coherent and coordinated join UN action, anchored in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks at country level under the leadership of Resident Coordinator (RC). Serving as the catalytic funding to piece together emerging policy priorities and financing strategies, the Fund aims to galvanize the UN Country Teams around integrated policies and identify the fiscal space to overcome the political and financial hurdles to scale and accelerate progress towards the SDGs. The Joint SDG Fund adopts a portfolio approach focused on the key SDG transitions of digital, food systems, social protection & jobs, energy, education and climate action to accommodate changing business needs and leverage linkages across interventions to achieve its strategic goals. Therefore, the Secretariat team is expected to work across units, functions, teams, and projects in multidisciplinary teams to enhance and enable horizontal collaboration. Scope of Work Under the overall guidance of the Head of Communication and in close collaboration with the Secretariat’s Programme and Partnerships teams, the Communications Specialist will operate across the following pillars: (1) Digital Communications; (2) Visual Identity; and (3) Graphic Design.
