About the Role Vidyard is looking for an experienced Senior Director of Engineering to join our R&D Leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer / Co-Founder, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the execution of our Engineering Department. What You’ll Work On - Lead engineering teams to optimize for customer value and innovation, embedding AI-driven practices throughout the software development lifecycle - Partner with executive leadership, senior leaders, and managers to establish and execute the strategic goals for Engineering in alignment with company objectives - Define and champion Vidyard's AI-forward engineering strategy, identifying opportunities to accelerate delivery and product quality through intelligent tooling, automation, and LLM-integrated workflows - Lead cross-functional collaborations with Product and Design leadership to support the growth and evolution of Vidyard's platform - Serve as a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, working with peers to make high-stakes decisions that impact key initiatives across the organization - Leveraging your industry expertise, lead and scale world-class engineering practices that drive optimal performance, quality, and efficiency — including the thoughtful integration of AI coding assistants, automated testing, and observability tooling - Work closely with your direct reports to foster a high-performance culture with a focus on customer obsession - Provide strategic guidance to managers and multi-faceted teams, ensuring operational excellence across complex projects with significant organizational impact - Act as an internal champion for responsible and effective AI adoption, helping teams evaluate, experiment with, and scale AI tools that meaningfully improve engineering productivity What We’re Looking For - 5+ years as a Senior Engineering Manager, Director, or equivalent senior engineering leadership role, ideally in a remote work environment - 7+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams - A demonstrated AI-forward leadership philosophy — you actively use, advocate for, and scale AI tools and workflows within engineering organizations (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, agentic development pipelines, LLM-powered internal tooling) - Deep understanding of how generative AI and emerging technologies are reshaping software engineering, and a track record of translating that understanding into team-level productivity and product-level innovation - Advanced knowledge and strategic understanding of industry trends, systems, and best practices, including modern platform engineering, DevOps, and MLOps principles - Demonstrated success in building high-performing teams, fostering continuous improvement, and executing strategic change - Proven ability to leverage data and insights to inform decision-making, assess risk, and drive impact - Strong ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders across all levels of an organization - Experience partnering with Product and Design to define and deliver AI-enhanced product features is a strong asset Our Tech Stack We primarily use: - Claude Code - Devin.ai - Ruby on Rails - Node.js - Vue.js - React - MySQL - AWS Experience with some of these is a plus — experience with all of them is not necessary.
